I’ve been a Hospice Nurse, early in my career. I absolutely understand her. I completely empathize with both of them. The way the R.E.D. Keep pushing the drugs, keep pushing the treatments that use certain supplies, keep pushing them to the brink. So the asshole pharma corps can make as much as they can, off of a living corpse. It’s disgusting. And, as a nurse who actually became one to help humanity, it makes me fucking sick. Was raised by my grandparents and had to watch them both die terrible deaths. Grandpa on hospice at home. Grandma in hospital was even worse.. they said she was technically brain dead after stroke but was given dnr order by my uncle and left to death rattle until she died. Her eyes had fear in them tho.

And honestly was left with worse PTSD from seeing her like that than I probably would have been helping her die. Shit consumed my mind for years. Honestly one of the first times I’ve typed it or talked about it because i totally understand. Hope they dont put this women in jail. It’s horrible that our system can’t help people end their lives in a humane way, forcing loved ones to resort to this. We are all going to die, we really need to get over that fact and start embracing knowing when it’s time to go. What an awesome wife. To love someone so much, you’re willing to end their suffering regardless of the consequences Euthanasia should be normalised. Why is it okay to love your pet too much to let them suffer, but wrong to help a loved one? I’ve been there when the gunshot-to-the-head victims get brought into the ER. You don’t forget it. And it comes to you at weird times. And sometimes in nightmares. Sad that our government (US) has a lot of hold over laws based in Christianity and a particularly virulent form. As a practical LCMS Lutheran, I sympathize with this woman and her husband. She should never have been placed in this position in the first place. Religion, including mine, has lost focus on the compass of compassion and now read it as “commission”. As a human, I do not have all the answers, but I do have a gut reaction. And that is, God has forgiven this woman and her spouse. The DA should just let it go. But that isn’t really going to happen. Sigh If there were any justice in this world, the people who act in hopes of getting a free ticket upstairs would be sent straight to hell instead.
