Your boss could fire you because they had a bad day. They can fire you for anything or nothing. In 10 years your company won’t remember this weekend but your family will. Don’t mention any disciplinary action. Call out sick that day if you want to try and cover your ass but I wouldn’t overthink it. If they can’t handle a few people gone for a few days they can’t really afford to fire you anyway. Take the It’s a beautiful day to save animals paw vintage shirt and I will buy this 1.5 days off without guilt. Next, stop bending over backwards for a company that doesn’t give a shit about you. Don’t show up and see what they do. It’s their problem not yours and if they fire you then you shouldn’t work there to begin with. If your boss gives you a hard time, well, don’t you get getting sick and having to call out of work on those two day?

Don’t offer extra to any employer ever. Don’t tell them extra things you’re willing to do, you’re willing to put up with, or are willing to subject yourself to. Do all those things though if you want, just keep it to yourself. Your employer will take advantage of all of those things in whatever way they can. They have some kind of nerve to put that on you after you followed their protocol to request the It’s a beautiful day to save animals paw vintage shirt and I will buy this time off. It’s not even a week. It’s a day and a freakin’ half. Not trying to make this work for them but how many others could they have gone to to work that time? I simply can’t imagine you are the only worker that would have the ability to cover this time. I would attempt to get the shift covered just to be a better person than they are. If you can’t, meh, who cares…they drew first blood.
