I don’t know where you are in GA, but a trip to Buford HWY/Doraville along with some online apps/sites might help you meet you meet people your own age who are either in similar situations or grew up here but in Viet/Asian-American household. yup I do visit Duluth and places with asian communities once everywhile but Idk where to find people my age since I dont want to date but just to be friend Move to Houston, largest Vietnamese population outside of California for half the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this cost , good schools and a massive city If your “friends” make you feel ashamed of being yourself, they are not your friends. When you say you “try to be white”, what exactly does that mean? Have you ever thought that maybe if the topic of Asia came up, you could contribute something interesting instead of feeling ashamed?
San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt: Express with Style
You say you’re worried about being judged for being Asian, but you also say that you “feel sorry for white people because they won’t understand the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this joy” of something you used to do in Vietnam. Then, you generalize that their idea of fun is only related to drugs, alcohol, and explicit stuff. That sounds very hypocritical. Do you have any hobbies or interests apart from sneaking out of the house to hang out at a convenience store? Hobbies that other people may also find interesting? It sounds as if you created an idea of what “white people” are like, based on what you’ve seen on TV or based on the expats you’ve met in HCMC. I know Vietnamese people are all about the community and it’s easy to do that when you all have a shared history and background. As a stranger in a strange land, of course it’s more difficult. Maybe instead of “trying to stay with the crowd” for the sake of being part of a crowd and having a very superficial relationship with people, you should try to be yourself and meet people that you can have better relationships with. I dont know how to really explain that but I mean like to be the same as them? Like to not make myself so different. Yes I’ve tried explaining to them how different Asia/Vietnam is to what they’ve been educated about but most of the time they make a racist joke about it and because im so introverted I just don’t really try to speak up about it again.
I do understand that I sound really small minded but Im not generalizing everyone in the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this U.S (which I guess I should’ve explain) I belive that what I really mean by that is to talk about the people im surrounded by here. Yes I have sports and instruments and “sneaking out of the house to hang out at a convenience store” isn’t my hobby but it was just something I miss. And my hobbies are also really common but through what I’ve tried to find out, where I am they don’t really do what I do ( Piano, golf…) You will be fine. Fuck them, not your crowd. Keep up with your study, get some scholarship and get out of that bumfuck. Atlanta is right there. I am considering a scholarship to go back somewhere in Asia,Idk if thats a bad choice given the fact that I’ve made it all the way to America just to go back.

Step by step to buy San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt
I was born in the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this US (1st gen) but my family still had to assimilate to Western culture. My dad worked as a dishwasher, janitor to an assembler and retired as an Aerospace technician. He has the opportunity to better himself. When you’re from the Midwest, basically, you are the only Asian kid in school. My parents wanted a better opportunity for myself and my sister so we grew up in the suburbs with lower Asian population versus the cities. My parents would take us to highly Asian populated cities for vacations along with seeing US attractions. My dad made sure my sister and I celebrated all major western holidays and packed us western lunchs. My friends love our culture and always stops by after school for dinner and celebrate lunar new yr with us.
I have been to Vietnam 3 times and traveled from the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this North all the way to the south. It’s a great country to visit but not to live. It’s not Senior friendly, there’s no insurance really you pay first before you get care. When my dad got injured on our trip, there’s no nurses takecare of bedside care. You have to go to the pharmacy to get preop supplies. They do not change the bed sheets after each patient, this was a government own hospital, but I also heard from locals that international hospitals don’t have nurses or pcas to help. There’s stairs everywhere no ramps for elderly or wheelchair bound. A lot of the elderly do not live past 60 because they cannot afford health care. Usally, they are homebound and stuck. My Dad and Uncle are 75 and still travels and enjoy life (but with help from their kids). They still have their teeth so they don’t have to eat congee all the time. We keep up with their health every few months. Another thing about health, if you are diabetic, you have to go to the hospital to get your insulin shots each time. You cannot do it your self or have a supply at home.
You have to pay “coffee money a lot” sewer/plumbing systems aren’t that great. It’s bad when you have to toss your toliet paper in a bin instead of flushing it. I’m lucky that in the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this US if we need assistance from the government/organization, they can help us if need and there’s loans too. The loans in vietnam are crazy high and not protected. My family lives the American dream and I am thankful for being here. The American dream is working hard and having security. While you do have to hustle but you are rewarded in the end like vacations days, sick time and retirement. In Vietnam you just need to work as much as u need to make money for the day to feed yourself and family, there’s no rushing there and time management is lacking. Plus you really don’t have vacation days. My Cousins and Uncles only take a few days off during Lunar new year. Some cannot afford to take it off so they don’t see family members for 1 to 3 yrs.
Save your money and vacation time and go back to visit. I literally got paid for 5 weeks to go on vacation to Vietnam and Korea. I know you are really homesick but going back there for vacation is still good and once you retire you can go back for 3 to 6 months. Since you are in the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this rural South, you might wish to consider joining a church. You don’t need to believe in what they are offering. You can use it for social connections and activities which are usually pretty wholesome. Nobody will challenge your faith. I was going to suggest this too. I’m not religious at all, but most of my Asian Americans friends met other friends either at school or church – attending either by choice or forced by family. There will always be people OP’s age attending out of obligation. Oh yeah I do go to church (im not religious) but I don’t know how to tell them that I don’t know if I want to become a christian or not.Although people there are great imo
Check the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this sub, there were a few similar posts in the past month, you may find support from others experiencing the exact same thing as you. Best advice is to make the best of it in the US, there are literally thousands of Viets wanting the same opportunity as you but cannot have it. Yeah I just read some and it does feel kind of better knowing im not the only one, I am really greatful for the opportunity i’ve been given and I’m using it to get scholarships…etc. Mcheew you think you are the only one that feel that way? Even African immigrants feel exactly like that. Life is even becoming tough here too because of so many people coming in to the country. So feel free to go back , but I bet you won’t because life is way better than Vietnam. Aside for the loneliness. The problem is that you’re in a “small-medium town in Georgia.” You’d have a different experience if you lived in cities like NY, SF, LA, Seattle, Chicago . . . Georgia is a flyover state (Google that) for Americans.
The American dream has been dead since 1913. Everything about it is the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this veneer of what used to be. As you now know, the streets of America are far more dangerous than any place in Vietnam. The only positive to American life is the purchasing power of the Dollar bill. That’s it. Everything else is a tragedy. But the regime in America wants a chaotic society, because its not easy for a multicultural society to unite against the government. And it doesn’t just want that for American and European society. It wants that for the world. Look at any country under NATO and Western control, including Asian countries, and you will see a population that is shrinking to extinction levels. This is done on purpose, to create room for multiculturalism. The different groups of people are then weaponized against each other to the benefit of the ruling government powers. Black against White. Christian against Muslim, Black against Asian, etc.
Multiculturalism is not the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this problem; tribalism is. A homogeneous society is more likely to be closed-minded and ignorant to ideas from other cultures. Tribalism replaces empathy with an “Us vs. Them” mentality which is exploited by those in power. If you think that’s limited to the government, the 1% are glad that you do. It makes perfect sense for rich people to control the traditional media and social media to stir up culture wars. If we’re too busy fighting other tribes in multiple culture wars, it means we’re not fighting a class war, which is the one that actually matters. Homogenous societies lack tribalism because everyone in that society is from the same tribe. A ruling class therefore can’t exploit a homogenous society with culture wars. Multiculturalism is the solution to that. No one in a multicultural society gets to be an individual, not in school or in the workplace. Cultural differences are politicized by all forms of media, particularly during election periods.
America is the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this most multicultural society in the world. And tribalism is bigger in America than any other place in the world. That isn’t an accident, that is the intended result of multiculturalism. Lol I wasn’t intending to say that VN is AMAZING and that the West is terrible, im just simply sharing how it was for me, and I was only intending to talk about the small group of people around me. I never specifically said that the West is terrible, it just wasn’t a good experience for me my first time. The West is also good at some sides imo I loved Singapore tbh its like so developed but then at the same time its like vietnam, I’ve been to singapore a few times and loved it their, I might even go back for uni if I could oh I didnt know lol, my bad, I’ll probably take this down if I can at some point cause tbh I just needed small advices and I didn’t expect that sm people were reading it
Georgia you say it wouldn’t happen to be Gainesville would it? There are 1.5k Asians there and most of them are Vietnamese. I get what you’re saying, but trust me when I say the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this hardest choice requires the toughest will. Your experience is common, and at least for me, rose tinted glasses is heavy with this one. Try to join a sport or anything that’s good. Learn more English. Anything. Try to blend in. Improve your social skills and self awareness. The more you stay in that comfort zone, the less you will survive. Frankly, you already cannot survive with that current mindset. There’s nothing wrong with being homesick, but do not ever let that consume you. I was also born and grew up in Vietnam, but I’ve had a great experience so far, at least in Canada. My Vietnamese friends, I can count on one hand. The others? Even my toes can’t cover them all. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome
Maybe that’s just my personal experience, because I value individualism a lot more than the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this sense of community, or maybe because back home I had to deal with a bunch of psychos which happened to be my fellow countrymen who keep taunting and making fun of me for things. I don’t know if you are religious (not that you need to be) but there are Vietnamese Christian churches everywhere. When I was living away from home in a place with very few Asians, I just showed up to one of these small churches. They were super welcoming and invited me over to some church members house for some homemade bun bo hue. I came to the US alone in 2014 in Oklahoma, a worse state. It was hard but you can look at this differently. Think of this as a challenge and let go of your old self and be a better person who can interact and have fun with everyone. I learn valuable lessons and it allows me to achieve great things, especially in jobs. Be a confident person who can have fun and learn from everyone instead of just “my people” Ay yo, I’m in GA to if you ever wanna talk my Dm is open. I feel you, I was very depressed when I got here 4 years ago but things had definitely gotten much better for me.
OP, you should consider the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this University of Minnesota for college—huuuugggeee Viet community there, and it’s a real life land of opportunity. Cold winters are really the only negative for me. It’s a great place to be imo. What you are feeling are very valid. As others stated, it’s because you moved to the middle of nowhere Georgia, it’s equal to us moving to the middle of nowhere Vietnam and using that small town with no expat community as representation of the country and not really understanding the local language or culture to fit in. I’m in a Vietnamese heavy area, and there are still people that are very depress and lonely. Asian Americans born here and around plenty of other Asians still go through an idenity crisis. Even Americans with fewer worries about racism now focuses on other problems. Point being is that there will always be something that anybody can be battling that leads them to feeling depress or lonely. I think for now, you can be friendly but resets your expections, if you make friends, great, if not school is just for learning and studying, you can join other things outside of school for social aspect as you’ll connect better with people with similar interest vs being forced in a classroom of other students that are only there because they’re the same age as you living within a similar radius.
I think you should just grind it out and apply for college in California or Houston, you’ll soon run into others with your similar life experience and bond because of what you had to overcome to be here. The American Dream is still very much real. i had the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this same ish experience as you when i moved to america as a teenager. However, i didn’t live in HCM growing up so to me, America was the big city. I did live quite far away thou like you. My mall was 45mins bus ride away, my school was an hour bus ride away. And the buses stopped working at 8pm. Everything was so spread out. I stayed mostly either at the mall, school, or home. I was homesick and depressed and I was alone. Netflix, hulu kinda saved me thou. The occasional trips to Seattle also saved me. Definitely learned to be independent by trying to cook vietnamese food by myself. Lots of time for reflections.
I think you’ll need to seek school counseling for your depression. Join all the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this clubs in the school. Fill your time with activities so you distract yourself. Find something you enjoy doing and stick to it. Also, learn to drive. Mobility helps when you’re sad. Find hiking trails, ride bikes, do physical activities you wouldn’t be able to do in Vietnam like skiing, camping, etc. If you’re low on funds, take a part time job. Look up on how to transfer to schools in bigger cities and see if you’re qualified. Set out some goals for yourself. Think that even if you move back to vietnam, it won’t be the same as you remember it. Your friends would have already moved on to other schools. Eventually everyone will have to grow up.
i moved from america to canada and lived in a walking friendly city. It was a game changer and made my quality of life improves. I moved back to vietnam now. You can always move back if you have the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this funds. Don’t give up, just keep going.
I never thought I would be interested in what Paris Hilton or Danielle Bregoli had to say, but both had deeply personal, deeply horrifying first-hand experiences and stories about the San Antonio Spurs Grateful Dead logo shirt moreover I will buy this places that Dr. Phil associates with. It was alarming and disgusting. She was sent to some camp for “rebellious teens” and had a horrible, traumatic experience. Same happened to Danielle Bregoli. Dr. Phil is a pathetic man who exploits the mentally ill for money. The places he sends children to are horrific and abusive. Imagine waking up to a camera crew in the middle of the night, ripped away from your home, placed in a camp with strict rules and regulations, withheld contact from your family, stripped of your individuality, and given “equine therapy” as a “treatment” for your mental health issues. He’s evil. Now, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve done the SAT and the GRE, so my vocabulary roots are a little rusty, but it reads to me like you just said “equine therapy”, as in “horse therapy”. Did I understand that correctly? Wtf is that?
