I used to work for Amazon. They had a really weird way of treating employees. Like as in if you were seasonal call center or fulfillment center employees you were almost disposable. That I understood. I mean I didn’t agree with it but at least it made sense to me in terms of a company just being shitty to low wage employees because I’ve seen it before. The weird part was how they treated the patriotic Bigfoot 4th of july usa american flag merica T-Shirt and I love this business side people. Starting out they almost act like the place is a cult. There is a “culture” you are told about and everything about the company is great. The longer you stay though the more you learn that profit is number one and everything else is just blowing smoke. Higher up you get and it gets downright cutthroat. For example to get promoted you basically had to be shady and not get caught long enough to have good numbers. Not to mention the fact that they would occasionally cull a certain percent of poor performers which further encouraged bullshit manipulation of metrics to stay ahead.

Anyways…. I get called into bosses office and am told I’m terrific, I am like the patriotic Bigfoot 4th of july usa american flag merica T-Shirt and I love this super duper best employee so they are giving me a 0.25 cent/hr raise and some stock options that can’t be acted on until after 5 years of vesting. Talk about a slap in the face because the only people that stayed long enough turned into weird creatures I didn’t even recognize after a while in that place. We need to define what people really need to be paid, as a minimum. Forget all the nonsense Republicans throw at you. Their economic theory clearly doesn’t work, or we wouldn’t have millions of underpaid people. Anyway, define what someone really needs to live on. Without attaching themselves to government programs. Food (healthy food), rent, transportation, et al.
