I have two high-performing students, and I recently was shocked that my high school junior got a 100% on a paper for English that I thought was filled with grammatical problems. Things are very different now Because socially our society is falling apart at the seems, but whenever someone critiques it, they are labeled a bigot.

And as far as I can tell most people my age, even comfortable middle class adults, didn’t take any science at all! The world would be a better place if more people had any concept of how science works.

We’re also setting up our students for failure. The amount of science we have to cover now is significantly larger than it used to be…a lot of this wasn’t invented yet. I will be honest I never bothered memorizing them either, because I can just multiply it in my head. It is not a big deal to multiply two numbers. It is wasted time and effort learning how to regurgitate a table rather than focus on learning how to actually do math. My 6th grade stepdaughters writing and punctuation is horrific. I’m constantly trying to help her, make her rewrite it, reminding her to capitalize, use punctuation, write in a complete sentence, and so much more.
