And I feel SO SO SO BAD!!!!! ?‍♀️ As a white dude I knew what it meant and I didn’t know there was other white people that didn’t know what it meant and it’s hilarious As someone who is white and has almost always lived in majority-white areas, and had majority white friends due to being raised by rabid racists and then moving to a city where I completely kept to myself and my partner who I met in my 99% white high school, I have literally ONLY heard Snoop Dogg song it and Eminem quote it. I’ve moved past ignorantly held racist beliefs and micro aggressions and generally racist faux pas for the most part by educating myself and intentionally exposing myself to new people, perspectives, and ideas. But this was new to me. Glad I’ve never made this racist faux pas on accident, so I appreciate this thread for educating me.

Over twice your age, lived in Long Beach, just found out NOW. Oh dear lord, I’m so glad I never used that phrase. It’s not absurd. I’m in my 40s. So is my husband. I’m literally only just now realizing what that means! My first time hearing that was from the McDonalds drive-thru rap circa like, 2006. Lol It is dangerous though. Any sensible person would probably just pull you aside and say “hey you probably don’t know but that actually means n-word, can you please not say it” 100% I feel sorry for people who spend 40 years of their life living in a work environment like this , everyone is so fucking fake So like the line is “fo shizzle mah nizzle” which “nizzle” is a standin for the racist n word slur that I shall not utter. So it was basically me calling her a… well that…. But that phrase is said as a term of endearment in the context and not meant as a racial slur and further, at that point of time, snoop was hitting his mainstream cred big time. So it saturated lexicon casually and was simply a funny thing to go with. Especially among us lily white suburban dwellers (who aren’t racists or have that bigotry ingrained). Like I said it was just a line to go with. Highly unprofessional for sure. She and I had many more productive years following and never let that moment get in the way of an otherwise good relationship. It was just… “yeah he really said that…”.
