I’m a dude in my 30s. Stopped home for lunch one day a couple years back and saw an older lady on my street with a flat tire. Walked down and asked if she needed help. I recently had a middle aged lady asked me to help her grab something from the Washington Huskies Dubs Husky shirt and by the same token and top shelf although I’m very average height and was only slightly taller than her so probably not very intimidating. I saw her kind of looking at the top shelf and hesitating but felt like I shouldn’t do or say anything until she asked because I didn’t want to make any assumptions even if I was inclined to help. I get some people’s hesitancy but it’s too bad there is apparently so much gray area between creeper and polite behavior haha. I don’t even know if it’s always a man thing. I think, for the last 30 years, people have taught their kids to be afraid of all strangers. My sister is an elderly woman, and always said hi to kids throughout her life. But for the last few years, kids have no response, or they hide. Like all fear, no social skills. Kind of sad, life was warmer before.
