The world design was a huge step up but every other aspect felt like a step back. In my 120 hours of in-game time with Elden Ring, I never really felt like I had mastered anything. I didn’t feel that rush of satisfaction or accomplishment past games have givent me. When I killed Malenia after 7 hours, I was just glad it was finally over. I felt like I had gotten lucky rather than skilled and that, to me, was more disappointing than anything.
