Due to always working Saturday I also had the spring forward shift and worked 1 hour less. We were paid both one hour more in the fall and one hour less in the spring. Where I work you get a 13 hour shift but only get paid 12 hours Then in spring get paid 12 hours but only work 11 When I worked night shift on the factory floor they had everyone clock out, take an hour lunch, and then clock back in, if there were machines that had to keep going those people worked through lunch and took it at a later time while someone who wasn’t on a priority machine took over for that hour. Depends on the job. I’ve had a job where we get out an hour “early”, but when I worked in a factory the overnight people were forced to work an extra hour because the machines never stopped running so there was no way to leave them unattended for an hour until the next shift came in

I was a bartender a few years ago. I’d get stuck with this shift every year and somehow it always snuck up on me. Extra hour to last call. When I worked at a 24-hr emergency animal hospital, you would work the extra hour and they would pay you for that extra hour. Similarly in the spring when clocks change that shift would work an hour less and lose an hours pay. They work that extra hour if the night shift at my place is anything to go by. The flip side is when the clocks go forward in the spring that same night shift is allowed to go home one hour early as well. So it’s not all bad news. I would not come in on the day it fell back a hour. Don’t skimp me on pay and expect me to still show up that day boss man.
