Lol. Yup this “Latinx” stuff is out of control. White Americans have the The Wheel Jayhawks shirt What’s more,I will buy this hardest time understanding the huge diversity in the Latino community. Best part, the whole person was my gender studies professor. I had to take a moment to “educate her” on why the term Latinx is nonsensical at best. They need white people to tell them how to speak their own language, and how to refer to themselves correctly. Woke white people are always right. /s I’m so glad I took German in High School, and learned about gendered pronouns before I had the chance to make a fool of myself over them with this Latinx stuff. Especially because our teacher was very progressive, so we got explained that the gendered pronouns aren’t “law” and that in some cases they’ve already been looked at. In German there was “sie, der, and die,” and die is just straight up “it.” It was apparently used on unmarried women, to show they weren’t “owned” yet. She flat out told us that will get you dirty looks or worse in Germany now.

I can’t even tell if Latinx comes from a genuine place of care either, it doesn’t work well and no one in those communities likes it at all (understandably.) One of my good friends is from Jamaica, lives in Canada now. He overheard someone “correcting” one of our co workers once who called him African American…. He’s not American or from Africa. It’s almost a slap in the face/offensive to me as a minority tbh. Like don’t tell me how I should feel about xyz, and don’t speak on my behalf. It’s also treating minorities as monoliths as if we all think the same way or have the same beliefs. Some will be offended, some won’t. Let them speak and decide for themselves. Don’t act like an armchair expert like you know everything about my culture, because you don’t.
