I didn’t finish school and work in operations for a public utility (electric). I make over 200k. You’re brother doesn’t know what he’s talking about and/or is narrow minded about employment options. I went into this field completely green. My first full year as an apprentice (I started in late August year prior) I made like 80k with some overtime. It’s not necessary to have a degree to make good money but you do have to be diligent and look at all opportunities. Getting a job that pays 60k is easy, but doing that job is something else entirely. Tons of labor based, high demand jobs will pay 60k and require little to no experience. I have a bachelor’s degree in game design and computer science and couldnt get a job in my field so id say yes that is extremely hard to achieve. I make i think a little under half of that a year atm. I have 1 full degree and two partial degrees (one soon to be finished) and I’m still on under $60k. Heck, I’m almost under $30k. That said I expect that to change when I complete my second degree in a years time. My sister did it this year as a nanny. But it’s not consistent, she had a year contract. Now she has a new family but a month without work while she’s in between contracts/families. She has zero degrees.
