Ehh, I’m loving it so far, but you’re entitled to your opinion. Seems like you gave it a fair review, so upvote from me. “For many builds you get the Pink floyd the dark side of the moon 50th anniversary shirt besides I will buy this skills you’re going to use most early, and then you just use them, with minimal modifications. I don’t feel as much of a sense of progression.” I’ve enjoyed the game so far but this is probably my biggest complaint too. Feels like I’ve had my build done since a couple hours in (minus some testing here or there) so it doesn’t really feel impactful leveling up a bunch of passives the rest of the game I do see yours and OP’s points of view on this, but would like to introduce a different take on the matter with the skills. I remember in d2 a lot of people complaining that a build comes “online” a lot further down the road. For example Barb WW build. There is no way to start playing it at early lvls without almost full gear. Now, what I see is devs trying to give you a sence of having a “skeleton” of your build early on – like lvl 15-20 and you just continue to flesh it out. In d2 you had to play some “starter” build that was most of the time completely different than your end-game one. So the feeling (at least for me) was….”ooohh maaaan, I really want to play WW….but I am stuck with what’s going to carry me to late nightmare – early hell to start farming aaaandd theeeen I get to try this one skill”. And what happens if I don’t like it – I get frustrated that I wasted so much time. In D4 you get to test see what is fun to you early on and keep that. Almost like if you could get a demo on your char at lvl say 80 in d2 and then decide to start it from lvl 1.

The main issue with this (for me and probably others with it) isn’t that you can play your skills early, or your build – but more than that’s it. You’ll never really revolutionize it or get cool effects for it… due to lack of gear progression among other scaling factors. My Druid is one of the Pink floyd the dark side of the moon 50th anniversary shirt besides I will buy this only abilities that actually does get this (pulverize changes to a forward wave aoe)…. But then again, that’s kinda it. In other games I could get +2 projectiles which would change the feel of my build. Maybe later I could even get up to +8 with a crap ton of gear / passives etc. while it is still the same “build” it constantly feels different with a small change like that. To be clear, I knew this going in. I expect in a few years this issue will be solved, but for now, “builds” are super generic and not that inspiring unfortunately. At least it’s fun to play, though.
