Rampant misinformation being believed wholesale, civil strife due to unemployment and lack of opportunities, increased crime, lack of workforce engagement, lack of science and technological production, racism, monotheistic fascism, all of it stems from people not having the education to grow and better their lives without having things handed to them.
We are already seeing it. Western countries that haven’t invested in their education are ripe for psychological warfare and propaganda. Some political parties thrive on uneducated voters that they can easily manipulate through fear-mongering. Trouble is, so can outside agencies also manipulate these people. Clever people don’t tend to like living around these type of people, who are currently being turned into hateful, bigoted culture war obsessed etc so brain drain begins. Unfortunately many of our incompetent people are going to be running the services or caring for the aging boomer population. We will all feel the impacts.

Districts care more about graduation numbers for the state and Feds instead of showing success in the content. Teachers are underpaid, work too many hours, go unpaid for winter break , summer break even though we all know that is not how it work. We maybe have 2 weeks in July that we are not working or having meetings of what the new year will look like. Large illiterate population amongst the highly educated. We kind of see it already but it will be more pronounced. There is already a class divide between the wealthy and working class, it will just be more extreme.

A Karen is supposed to be someone who has entitled expectations that exceed realistic expectations in day-to-day business activities and unfairly punishes workers because of them not meeting them. It is not necessarily every customer that happens to get annoyed, irritated, and/or angry when the worker is very clearly not doing what they’re contractually obligated to do on-site – especially if the worker has the audacity be an asshole about it when it’s their fuckup in the first place. Yes, people on both ends make mistakes, and that should be understood by both parties. That is why reconciliation is so important.
Idk if previous generations of adults were like this, but i’m shocked at how many adults (20s and 30s) cant spell for shit. I guess I’m doing the same right now, but I do make it a point to try to get at least 8k steps outside a day and do thoughtful hobbies like read/draw/write. I’m worried about these kids that have been watching since they were sucking on a pacifier, the real world must seem so bleak to them. I understand why they may feel that way, but the work to find the beauty is so worth it.
This heavily depends where in academics OP is targeting. Most work doesn’t need a degree to begin with.
