Where do you live? $15/hr is very low for an admin assistant. Even $20 is low depending on where you live. If you’re in a decent sized city, try applying for an admin / executive assistant position at a larger company. They’ll have some standards for pay and won’t massively underpay you. It’s likely a bait and switch post tbh. They’ll say $20/hr and then tell the Not all who wander are lost some are looking for cool rocks camping mountain T-Shirt and I love this new hire there’s a 90 day training period at minimum wage and will eventually get to the promised $20. Slowly. $.10 raise every year. This shit happens far too often.. The new hire will likely even quit before they reach the $15/hr, and then the company’s saved money while patting themselves on the back for a shitty job well done and repeat the destructive process;;;

Their hope is that now that you are well settled into the Not all who wander are lost some are looking for cool rocks camping mountain T-Shirt and I love this job and know all the kinks and folds, you can teach that to a green hire who will maintain your system for less. Apply for it over Indeed. Either they won’t notice until interview, or it would be a passive aggressive way of saying, “I know what you’re doing.” Take your skills you learned else where, web development and management is a very useful too. And I’m sure you learned lots of others skills that can be deployed elsewhere, where you’ll be compensated better. When they ask you why, you let them know that since they are planning on replacing you, you need to look out for yourself. If you want to do that, you let them know that you are only available as a contractor and your contractor rate is 4x your currently salary with a minimum of 20 hours. I had this happen to me. I confronted my boss because it was similar to my job, but with slightly higher pay. When I confronted her, she said that once she expands and opens her second location (a transition we had just started and that involved me), then all the current employees would get bumped up to that level. I gave it two weeks after the transition, and she never bumped my pay up, so I quit and found a job that offered even more than the pay bump she was offering for better hours and benefits. You can always ask, but honestly, with that level of disrespect, I would just leave. It’s such a punch in the gut to see your job listed with a higher wage than you make. “My work includes webpage and graphic design”. Sir/ma’am, you are worth more than $20 per hour for just that skillset alone.
