Bro, Manipal or Massachusetts? If it’s the Library Squad Librarian Bookworm Book Lover T-Shirt and I love this former, then maybe it was your school. If it’s the latter, it’s a scam. I think youre taking about Manipal Kyuki they did this to me to but not in a threatening way and definitely not like your case … Forgive me if this post doesn’t fit this sub. It is, however, related to the monkey mind, so I thought people would find it interesting. Plus, I think it’s good to raise awareness about it, as it is a terrible mental disorder that anyone has the potential of getting if they are in the right circumstances. The Echoes is a mental condition I accidentally discovered. It’s when the mind’s internal narrator mimics noises you hear because you’ve been thinking too much for too long. To put this into context and describe how it happened, I’ll share part of a story with you. For over 3 years now, I’ve had this mental disorder called HPPD (hallucinogen persisting perception disorder). HPPD is no fun. One of the places I escaped to was my imagination to make time seem like its going by faster. I would fantasize about random things, like anyone would. Every where I went I was somewhere else. When I went for walks, taking a shower, in bed, sitting. I was just always thinking. Fast forward, after I’ve had HPPD for some time, I decided that the stories and thoughts I was creating were crazy. Absolutely mental. So, I had the terrible idea of selective thinking in the most stupid way possible. I got a piece of paper and separated my thoughts into categories. So, on this piece of paper, I wrote things like “no thoughts related to this” or “no thoughts related to that.” This list was quite big. I read this piece of paper to myself every morning. And when a thought that fit the category came into my mind, I would say “no this” or “no that.” Sometimes, one single thought would fit the description of multiple categories and I would deploy multiple thought restrictions 4-5 times. I used my mind to suppress my mind. Weeks have passed and out of the blue, totally out of my control, my internal narrator started mimicking noises I was hearing! This scared me. I started meditating all day everyday until I realized it beat me. Not to mention, this made my HPPD much worse. Not much time had past until I got the idea of how to stop it (for the most part). I got to my computer and edited a bunch of audio files of a clock ticking. I used Audacity to make the silence in between the sound of the clock ticks from 1 second, to 1.5 second, to 2 second, etc. All the way to 15.5 seconds. I got some sound canceling headphones, and played the sound of the clock ticking all day every day for over half a year from my phone. I call this a clock tick trance. My mind is full of broken and incomplete thoughts and still sometimes is. The good news is after all this, the Echoes have stopped for the most part. I no longer just mimic any sound. I only will sometimes mimic randomly (but pretty rarely), and music. Especially music. From my experience, things that I found that are incredibly helpful for remedying these Echoes are: meditation, clonazepam (klonopin), clock tick trances, vast amounts of sleep, and sensory deprivation. I figured out the less time I spent in this state of mind, the better I became. To understand this a little but better, I will include, well, not my whole story with HPPD, but only some of it as well as some others.

HPPD stories: So, the Library Squad Librarian Bookworm Book Lover T-Shirt and I love this HPPD I have is very rare. A lot of people don’t know what it is or what it has the potential of doing. HPPD is when the effects of a drug persist longer than it normally should. You can get HPPD from your first THC joint, but your chances of winning the lottery are a lot better. I got mine from LSD. My second 100ug trip is when it started. I also discovered for myself that HPPD has the potential of being more than just persisting visual hallucinations. I got my HPPD in March, and I started hallucinating pain the same year in August. I’ve heard of only two other people who hallucinate pain from their HPPD. The rarest form of HPPD I EVER heard of is persisting auditory hallucinations. I only know one person who had it. The auditory hallucinations caused by psychedelics or entheogens have the potential to be extremely loud. If memory serves me correctly, this person had very loud persisting auditory hallucinations for 3 months (which were constant). He said he slept very poorly for the first 3 weeks. After my HPPD gotten worse, I decided to get medical treatment for it. I went to UCSF emergency room where I was prescribed olanzapine. When I took it, it made everything worse. It actually was when the pain started. For some odd reason, when I take it during the day, it makes everything worse, but when I take it at night, it puts me to sleep. The main hallucinations I see is every source of light is REALLY bright. Nowadays, if I’m driving on the road, if someone has their brights on I can feel the pain in my eyes from it and if I look away, I can still see the residue in my field of vision. Don’t even get me started on the Sun. Jesus. The lights are so bright it also affects my sleep. I can’t fall asleep without medication and if I loose sleep, I hallucinate more, and if I hallucinate more, I’ll be in more pain and have even more trouble falling asleep. It’s just this crappy cycle where each component of it affect each other. While the Echoes were happening and while I was in a great deal of pain, I was just lying in bed all day listening to that frickin’ clock tick with a stack of blindfolds on. It was one of the lowest parts of my life.
