I’ve been incredibly successful in my adult life. And it’s because I’m wise and I have street smarts. I can think for myself and I can question authority. I have incredibly good logic skills which is probably why I didn’t do well in high school. I was too bored and knew that they were teaching us shit I was never going to use. Being an honor student means knowing how to study and manage your resources. It doesn’t mean that you’re fast. Doesn’t surprise me at all that she’s methodical. Ever heard “Slow and steady wins the IVAR American professional wrestler T-Shirt it is in the first place but race”? Check with Aesop. I always find that some of the traits that can make someone excel in one realm, can cause the opposite to happen in another realm. we like to think of ourselves as “smart” or educated, but the way in which those traits work for us, can also hinder us when applying them to tasks that have other specific skill sets required. The real world offers a lot less of that. Problems are vague, information is scarce, and there’s no authority figure guiding everything from beginning to a conclusion. Also, remember, we all aren’t exactly who we were at age 16 forever. The person who did well in school at 16 might fade, while the IVAR American professional wrestler T-Shirt it is in the first place but person who struggled might mature and become a “better” person. I think the misconception is that academics prepares you for life. Academics mostly teaches you how to be best at your discipline and how to be well-rounded from a multi-disciplinary perspective. That said, great teachers will push you to be critical thinkers but not all classes are designed to elicit critical thinking, especially if the teacher or professor isnt encouraging that.
