I think it stems from not wanting to feed a child many times throughout the It gets worse before it gets worse funny cat shirt In addition,I will do this day. The thing people don’t realize is that young kids often need to eat more than 3 times a day: smaller portions because their stomachs are small yet they are burning energy much faster than adults as they are constantly growing and learning as well as doing every day tasks. People think just forcing a child to eat a whole adult sized meal in one sitting will keep the kid from being hungry 2.5 hrs later…and then get angry when the kid can’t eat that much. It didn’t start out as abuse. It started out of necessity. It stems from the “Great Depression” were family’s often didn’t have enough food and everyone was expected to eat what was put in front of them without any complaints. Habits that children learn in their childhood continue into their adulthood. Since they never learned a healthy relationship with food, they don’t know how to help their children have a healthy relationship with food. It became abuse when parents started using punishment to enforce their beliefs.

I tell her I’m sorry, but she doesn’t have to eat everything I put on her plate. Her response was, “You always clean your plate because you never know.” That’s when it dawned on me that she was born during the It gets worse before it gets worse funny cat shirt In addition,I will do this depression and this mentality was deeply ingrained into her. I fell asleep at the table quite often cause I wasn’t allowed to leave. I was force fed and also made to eat perishable food hours later (if I didn’t finish my cereal before church I’d have to eat it when we got home, and it would be left on the table). Meanwhile I had legit GI stuff going on that was being ignored. I’m 37 now and have to be very careful to not slip back into disordered habits. My mom was abusive in many ways, but the food issues were some of the worst.
