I’m 6’1 and 195. I don’t have instagram abs or anything, but in the I Got Robbed By A Sweet Old Lady On A Motorized Cart T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this right light I have definition. Again, nothing crazy, just a normal athletic build. The bmi calls me overweight. Im 170cm and 112kg. BMI 39, which is obese. But my WHR (waist hip ratio) which a lot of people want to use instead of BMI is 0.81. Which is just slightly over the upper limit of good (0.8). While BMI isnt perfect, in my case its more descriptive than WHR. I remember at my fittest I was 6’3 215. According to charts I was overweight but I remember at that weight if I ever under ate or tried to lose anymore I felt physically ill and sluggish. I was too active and playing high impact sports, the BMI chart wanted me to be the weight of a 60 year old grandma apparently BMI chart generally is ill fitting if you are really tall or short. Better BMI gives you 25.5 instead of 26.7 with normal BMI. And honestly I dont think people should worry about 1-2 points. It doesnt really impact your health if your BMI is 24.8 vs 25.3. Even though one is normal and other overweight.

You can be at BMI weight and still be unfit. You can be BMI Obese and be fit. Your body fat percentage is what you should look at, BMI is useful at a population level, not at an individual level. Callie Torres from greys anatomy is a good example of apple shaped. She carries most of her weight in her top half, and has slim legs and a small butt, but broad shoulders and not a very defined waist. Still a gorgeous woman, not overweight, but her fat distribution is different. The waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) is calculated by dividing your waist circumference by your hip circumference. For men, a WHR of 0.9 or less is generally considered low risk for cardiovascular health problems. For women, a WHR of 0.8 or less is considered low risk. A WHR above 1.0 for men and above 0.85 for women is generally considered to indicate a higher risk of cardiovascular problems. I only worked in a nursing home for 6 months and I saw more fat, borderline obese 80 year olds that I could keep track of.
