In fact Bangalore’s highest temperature dates back to 1931 when it hit 38.9. In February of 2005, the highest temperature was 35.9 which we are yet to see this year.

We have to look at multiple factors when it comes increase in temperature, loss of green cover, amount of construction and vehicle pollution. It is true that the Giveon Rather Be shirt and I love this highest temperature “ever” in Feb hasn’t been achieved yet but what about sustained high mercury levels throughout the year. Climate Scientists are saying global temperatures have breached 1.5 degrees Celsius. If we see green cover and better heat resistant buildings in richer neighbourhoods are said to decrease ambient temperature by 2degrees making residents feels more pleasant than people living in impoverished and underdeveloped areas, these people feel the burnt of it. People in small apartments with barely any ventilation and such will notice the sustained increase in heat throughout the day.

I am 40 yrs and 33-34 was standard even during my school years. It wasn’t “hot” because there were barely any vehicles on the road and trees all over . Also, my body is not acclimatized to this weather at all. So I already have heat boils between my fingers. At the same time the dry heat is drying my skin out completely. People only complain, no one ever does anything about it. In the building I stay in, there is an ice-cream parlour on the ground floor. There is a huge tree in the front of the building, and the ground floor is hell bent on having it cut down for “better visibility”. The landlord isn’t allowing for it to be cut down, but the tenant knows people in the forest department and already got permission to cut it down. Since the tree isn’t inside the building, the landlord has no right on it as it technically belongs to BBMP / Govt. They haven’t cut it down because the landlord said No, and if they went ahead with it, it would piss him off.

I mean, you know people literally put bleach/glass/dogshit/rat poison/dish soap in food they give to people? If you don’t buy it in front of someone and they see it, it’s safer to assume it’s tainted, and this info gets passed around especially to the Giveon Rather Be shirt and I love this like 1% that are living on the streets and not couch surfing. Homeless people (typically) don’t need food. We’re really fuckin good at raising food for people in need. People donate a ton of food to existing programs and any city in America with a homeless population also has programs that will give them food, all they have to do is come in and get it. The things homeless people need money for are things like warm clothes, gloves, blankets, bags for their possessions, etc. We have programs to raise those things for people in need, but it’s a lot easier to raise food. If you want to give a homeless person something but not cash so they can’t buy drugs with it, a pair of gloves or a hoody or something is way better than food.
