Yes even I had a similar situation, I used to always go back on time, eat , sleep, stay at home, play in front of the house where my mom could see me. I suggest you to stop blaming your mother being overprotective and to start owning your life. Furthermore, set some boundaries and be more courageous & persuading rather than accommodating. It won’t be easy path but I believe that the result will make you attain peace. I wish you get over this situation soon. My mom was quite similar but I knew her overprotectiveness came from a place of intense love and protection for me. Truthfully I never had any issues with it. For context I am a girl in her late 20s. In fact I absolutely loved the fact that my mom was always there for me and had my back unconditionally. I made great friends but I always told them that my mom is very possessive about me and they understood and everything worked out. Also as I grew older I started having in-depth conversations with my mom and I could manage to convince her that I will be safe if I go out but I kept her updated on my whereabouts. Also it probably helped that I personally am not the partying type. And this was when I was in Los Angeles pursuing my undergrad. I requested her to come along with me because that was also when I realised I would end up missing her way more than she would miss me. For additional context I am the only kid and my dad is quite well off financially. So far I have a thriving career and a good social life.
