And there would be a lot of opportunities to learn about them from books, TV, internet, etc. Before I got my first period at 13, other girls in my class talked about it. But I did not understand what they were talking about. I did not have a concept of menstruation. When I got it myself, I went to my mother with the bloody underwear and asked what was happening. I did not make the connection to what the others were talking about on my own. I did not know about menstruation before I got it myself.

Mom, I started my period! >:(” It’s changed now probably, I was 13, I had no clue what was happening, I’d heard the terms and read a book but it was nowhere near the amount of info I needed. It was also made out to sound like I’d become a psychopath for a week that just curls up in to a ball and cant do anything. We had a teacher that told us we would bleed through everything and would have to change pads every hour.I know some women get it bad but because it wasn’t like it was described I just thought I had a random issue.
