John Lewis used to have these tea towels that are checkered pattern, white and black. We go for the flat tea towels over the fluffy ones and they wash up (and wash) decently. We have a periodic table one which is good, as are the ones I got from the London Transport Museum of all places (their gift shop is ace generally though). It sounds silly but a lot of bin issues I had aren’t the bin itself but stuff related to it. Don’t have the bin anywhere warm, use that weird little metal handle thing to secure a good quality bin bag, use a sticky back deodoriser (neutradol or generic) on the lid. Most smelly bin issues are caused by putting wamr tea bags in the bin! We don’t have any issue with a smelly bin, even with cat poop going in it (bagged). Thanks though!

I forget which brand pops up on there frequently but they’re good and cheap. Tea-towels – Get some from a catering supply store. In particular, the towels that are plain white with a thin red or thin blue border around them. For drying up – waffle tea towels, avoid terry towel. For cleaning/general purpose – microfibre cloths/towels. They all wash well. Brabantia bins are really good; we’ve had ours over 10 years and the lid still works pefectly. They aren’t cheap, so maybe something to get later on. You don’t need to use their binbags. I’ve spent money on fancy bins and they don’t seem to last five minutes. I bought a simple plastic bin with a lift up lid flap, no drama, contains rubbish, won’t be breaking any time soon! These tea towels are brilliant. Cheap. Very absorbent and durable. Not sure what type of bin you specifically want – but I would always always recommend Brabantia. On the spenny side but so worth it and they laaaaaaast. Sadly, Wilko was the source of my best tea towels. However, Primark does quite good ones. My mum has struggled for years to find ones which actually absorb water, until I got her some Primark ones.
