I tend to do it because I drink very little, but I tend to order expensive drinks, and I don’t want to just put this on someone else. Then again, I don’t have a normal group of British friends. I’m an expat and my friends are a mix of weird and expats. Haha yeah, I know how it’s done, but I definitely think opting out often either annoys at least some if not most people into it. I did this when saving for a house deposit.. so often I would go to pub and have maybe 2 or 3 drinks big in a group of 8 people you could easily end up paying way more than needed. So I did exactly this for about a year. It meant I know how much I would spend every time. Also you drink at your own speed not the Caravan is calling and i must go shirt moreover I love this fastest drinkers speed. And when your saving money this is usually a much slower speed I really dislike this whole rounds thing. If I want only 2-3 drinks, why should I be buying everyone else drinks? Everyone has different experiences but I’ve never been in a position where I have ended up buying rounds out of peer pressure.
