That sounds shady as shit. I work for a nonprofit, and there is no way in hell any of our EPs would get volunteer security. What if something happens?! They can volunteer right the Best prove Them Wrong Your Body Follows What Your Mind Believes T-Shirt moreover I will buy this f off. Ugh they couldn’t find the funds for even minimum wage? Who wants to see their crappy non profit bands play that bad? One of the unfortunate truths is that NPOs need money to pay for the people who work for them. If they can get volunteers, then they don’t have to pay out, and in theory use money towards whatever their NPO is about. If you’re volunteering to work security at a music festival, then it could be considered remote work. Because without actual compensation, if an altercation occurs, you can’t do anything, so might as well sit at home.

I’m not saying this is right but I know a lot of folks who have volunteered at big events that get huge perks and are willing to not be paid to be able to experience different things at these events/festivals etc. If it’s voluntary don’t do it if you want money I guess. And definitely don’t do it if it isn’t aligned with your personal interests and the Best prove Them Wrong Your Body Follows What Your Mind Believes T-Shirt moreover I will buy this perks aren’t for your advantage. My ROTC unit in 1990 did free security at the Tampa Stadium. I ended up being stationed outside a press box and the radio DJs invited me in to watch Living Color and The Rolling Stones with them while they got majorly stoned. Best free work I’ve ever done. I mean it depends, I did volunteer security work at a concert. Tickets were 30$ and it was a 4 hour thing. Ended up getting free food and doing security at the VIP area. Volunteering at a soup kitchen or clean up crew is one thing, but at a fundraiser? nah nah, they gotta be paying for that. Its part of their budget to run the fundraiser, guarantee they’re paying for other things just trying to save money.
