Mindfulness helped me accept my introverted nature. It helped me notice the negative thoughts I had about myself that told me I needed to be different. You describe you have similar thoughts. Embracing mindfulness means accepting things the way they are without wanting to change them. Even if you notice you DO want to change your introverted nature, then you just notice that your thoughts are telling you you need to change. That’s okay, you just notice these thoughts, you don’t have to change them, believe them or judge them. Just realise they are just thoughts and not the truth. Accepting yourself the way you are is very liberating. It will likely make interacting with people less exhausting too because you don’t need to spend energy trying to be what you are not.

So I don’t mean accept your introverted nature and be alone forever. Being an introvert doesn’t mean you can’t or don’t want to be social. It just means being with people costs energy and you need to be alone to recharge. So if being more social is what you want you can find a way to realise this that is right for you. But do you want to be more social because that’s how other people are and society expects it or because that would truly enrich your life? Very different situations. Mindfulness can maybe help you figure this out.
