If you think a 45 year old man hitting on a teenage employee is a normal part of growing up, you did not grow up normally. Recommend finding a good therapist if you haven’t already my friend. I mean. Maybe but maybe not. Just say you aren’t comfortable talking about relationships and if they leave it at that it’s probably cool. If not, run fast. Run far. Thank goodness your critical thinking skills are doing their job. You realized this didn’t feel right! Great job on reaching out for advice and what a great job you did identifying the Barney Stinson Legendary It is gonna be legen wait for it dary Shirt and I will buy this red flag behaviors. You could do a write up if this as a case study for a social emotional learning class. Keep being safe and smart! I admire you and hope you feel proud! Get away fast. Totally not a normal behavioral situation and designed to make you feel special. Yes, it’s grooming. Don’t fall into the trap or dismiss it; he’s likely got a winning formula he’s used multiple times before. Just let your parents know everything he’s doing and say you’re getting weird vibes and get out of there.

First he’s trying to establish rapport with you ‘you’re so easy to talk to’ (blah blah). He’s attempting to isolate you from the Barney Stinson Legendary It is gonna be legen wait for it dary Shirt and I will buy this people closest to you, while simultaneously trying to ‘show you’ he is emotionally aligned with you ie, ‘your mom hates that I’m such a bad influence on you’. He’s trying to diminish your future prospects (personal agency) by planting a seed to get you to drop from college and work for (read: become dependent on) him. The plan is usually to isolate you from loved ones that can notice this predatory behaviour. Saying that your mother doesn’t understand you but he does… Creepy. Follow other’s advice, document and get the hell out. These type of interactions can be extremely difficult to prove, it will be taxing on yourself. However, if you manage to prove it you can prevent some other poor soul from going through the same. I was 16 and groomed similar to this by an extended family member who was much much older! It started kind of “innocent” like this then became way more serious in the nature of things he was telling me, asking me,sending highly inappropriate pictures to me. I would report this guy ASAP! A CEO is not exempt for inappropriate conduct !
