I’m mixed.” They usually don’t believe me, though. I’m assuming you’re white. If I was full white, I honestly don’t know how I’d handle it. Some ppl pull the race card for every little thing & nothing you say will change their mind. I HOPE when I have those interactions w/ them & they realise that race wasn’t a factor, they’ll think twice about pulling the race card over every little thing just because the other person is white. If I were you, I would just pull her aside & let her know how you feel & your true intentions. It’ll be hit or miss whether she listens or not.

Some, not all, people of colour assume that all white people (& white passing people like me) are racist, & that even the Veteran’s Day Vintage Veteran Thank You For Your Service American Flag T-Shirt it is in the first place but ones who think they’re not just don’t realise that they are… so they see the world through that lense. There are a lot of wounds, & there ARE some horribly racist white people, so it’s understandable to a degree. I’ve had people do & say some super racist things around me, not realising I’m mixed. I used to assume all white people were racist until I stopped listening to propaganda from both sides & stopped seeing things through the lens of unhealed generational wounds. I definitely do. I’ve experienced racism from people of all races. & I’ve also had black friends tell me that there’s no such thing as reverse racism, when I have literally experienced racism from people of colour because I look white. The point is that sometimes people of colour assume I’m just white & that I’m racist, when that’s not the case. & a lot of people assume racism all the time, when sometimes, racism has nothing to do w/ it. I can’t be racist against black or brown people when I’m black & brown myself. Just because my skin is white doesn’t mean that’s what I am. That’s just how genetics played out to pigment my skin.
