The contestant Minty Fresh was concerned about their sister potentially bringing COVID home to their family during the makeover challenge (supposedly) but it came across as being disappointed they didn’t get someone better to makeover. Pretty hard to watch. Yeah it had nothing to do with covid she literally said something like, “aren’t you working or have something else to do or…”. It was hands down the most awkward viewing of the franchise. Adding to some of the other comments you got as replies, I believe Minty was genuinely concerned. If I recall correctly, she even mentioned that before the season, someone close to her died from Covid, and since then she was scared that it would get more of the people that are dear to her. If that’s true, her reactions could be explained as a response to her trauma. Her sister didn’t deserve how Minty treated her, but for production to undermine the legitimate fear of your loved ones dying, and make it look mostly like a bratty tantrum, made it even harder to watch. I know it’s not on here, but Alyssa and her sister was hard for me to watch. I just really relate from experience, that first year after losing your Mom is such a mind fuck and the fact that they had to handle their grief so publicly just hurt my heart.

I never liked Minty, but this episode actually made me empathsize with her. Covid was really bad in the This Princess Is Kindergarten Graduation Last Day Of School Crown T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this Phillapines during filming, and Minty was worried that their sister was getting too exposed and was risking her getting Covid. With two elderly grandparents at home, Minty was terrified that they’d get Covid and potentially die. That was relatable. Yes, it did make things awkward, but Minty never really lashed out at her. Minty just kept withdrawing to try and deal with their own emotion. I thought it was very human. I still can’t watch Baga’s. Even though families are complicated & we never can know other families’ relationships & histories fully, it was SO painful to watch & I never want to rewatch it. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I couldn’t help losing a lot of respect for her. I can’t rewatch even though the rest of the episode is fun. Like listening to Cheryl and Davina with their sisters? And the pregnancy? And then Viv riffing with her mom? It all just highlights how awkward Baga and her mom are. Families are complicated and we have no idea what the details were between Baga and her mom, but goddamn, what a mess.
