But the The world is against me it wouldn’t be fair otherwise shirt Apart from…,I will love this animals in these programs (goats, sheep, pigs, cattle, etc) are not pets and kids are supposed to learn through the caring and fitting process not to treat them as such. A very difficult lesson for a nine year old to process though. I don’t understand why they’d have someone so young participating in this. All the kids I knew who did stuff like this were in high school. A lot of support for the program comes from the meat industry and they don’t want kids turning their 4H projects into pets. This is the crux, isn’t it? No empathy. No bonding with your livestock. They’re just meat. That’s really the “lesson” they wanted to give. Because imagine if you let kids get upset about their meat animals, then what, they turn vegetarian? Fuck the industry man.

The fair grounds people were definitely on a power trip and the cops had no right to search property without a warrant. The situation sounds like a complete shit show. All over a damn goat. 5 days agoConservatives exist to punish people they’re in positions of power over. I’m beginning to think they’re brain damaged. Because sadists are everywhere. Go say something directly. Remember this is an adult who got the cops to hunt down and kill a child’s pet goat. The biggest reason is that 4H animals and county fairs are a hotbed of diseases. Minimal care animals, bare minimum sanitary conditions, people touching multiple animals, and hot weather combined cause a lot of trouble. To reference the local county fair: All meat animals have a disclosure you have to sign, saying the animal is to be slaughtered at the end. Most non meat animals (mostly horses) require a veterinarian certificate of health before coming and a routine check-up before leaving. I kind of get why they don’t want animals going back to any farms, but I find it surprising that the fair in question didn’t have any better ideas on how to handle this situation. If I remember correctly, it’s so they can test them for hormones and such. But I thought that was only in national level events.
