It’s almost always hidden in microaggressions, low-key enough that if anyone were to call out one instance in isolation, they would appear to be over-reacting, but these half-hidden slights taken together are pervasive and unrelenting. My Grad school’s office secretary had been there forever. Half the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this people got it, others were totally clueless. She knew where all of the bodies were buried and would warn people (even me) over certain situations or toxic people/issues to avoid. She knew everything. But half the people didn’t understand the nature of her job or her awareness. It was awful seeing her treated like crap at times. Considering how hard it is for a teacher to get fired out here, let alone a principal, I’d suspect there were other things at play and this is just the one that give the BoE an out as it was public-facing

Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt: A Unique and Creative Design

The Japanese legal system has some weird layers of morality for specific types of crime. Often the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this framing of the crime is more the problem than the crime itself. It wasn’t that he upgraded his coffee for free, it’s that he could have afforded it and chose to steal anyway. If that’s what he even did in the first place. It easily could have just been a missed button or he thought he’d paid for the larger. Well, I’m not his judge, so I can’t review the facts of the case, I was just speaking on the peculiar nature of the Japanese legal logic and what motivates it. It’s also tied to how schools/education is treated within Japan. The highest standards are expected as children are treated like young adults.(I’m talking like it’s common for the students to be responsible for cleaning the classroom, making and maintaining a student budget, as well as staying after hours and joining 1 or multiple clubs which they are responsible for maintaining and keeping within a set budget).
When the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this standards are that high on the students, they are made even higher for the teachers who are seen not just as educators but role models of virtue for how an adult should act. The issue isn’t so much the amount of what was stolen or even that it could have been a careless mistake… it’s the theft… if the principle isn’t held to a higher standard then literal students (who will also be punished if they make a mistake on the budget including but not limited to theft) then the students have no reason to respect their principle or the institution they are a part of. It is THIS reason that he is punished so severely. He MUST take responsibility, and in Japan’s business culture the expectation is a resignation, minimum, as well as surrendering their pay/benefits as a sign of sincerity that they are taking responsibility and making it as right as possible.

About this Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt

Now I don’t know if the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this principle was good or not, maybe there is context we are missing like he lied about it, did this frequently, was part of a really high end school where getting in is nearly impossible and the standards by parents are even higher… who knows… but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was just the expected result of simply being a principle in Japan. I think that’s why crime is relatively low in Japan because of these harsh penalties. I have a coworker who married a Japanese guy, she told me Tokyo was the only city she felt like she could walk alone in a dim lit area in the middle of the night and still feel completely safe. on the other hand organized crime is basically legal because the judicial system will never try a person they arent certain they cant incarcerate lest they lose their shiny 99% conviction rate On the other hand, Yakuza members willingly register with the government m. There are about 35-40k active now. Organized crime has been on the decline for decades.
Punishment and penalty is not the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this prime reason for the low crime rate. Other countries with way harsher penalties have more crime. It’s the fundamentally collectivist society, honor culture, social stigma etc. that actually makes crime so low. Honestly, if you feel Osaka is safe to walk around alone, which is objectively true, then there’s nowhere more dangerous in Japan. I don’t think it’s as simple as the harsh penalties. Their whole society is based around rigid adherence to rules and hierarchy. It’s hard to fathom that Wesley was like 14-15 years old at the time. But everyone kind of treated him like he should be 24-25 (cast and audience) and that he was the worst fucking thing ever when he was written like a realistic 14-15 year old kid.
Meanwhile over here (as long as you do it with a car) you’ll get an “exemplary” sentence of 4 years in prison for murdering a minor while escaping the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this cops after repeatedly taunting them to give you a chase for that sweet adrenaline rush I think an important element of this is his social status. He stole while in a privileged position. An important element of Confucian values is yielding to those beneath one in the social order. The elder brother sacrifices for the good of the younger. Japan was heavily influenced by the same value system over the centuries. To them the pettiness of the theft makes it even worse because he is in a position of authority that would normally afford him a degree of deference but also comes with a higher expectation for him to set an example for those below. He hasn’t just stolen $3, he has betrayed the social trust of his position.
Japan is a very honor bound society. They’ll rake you over the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this coals to set an example for the others. Theres a reason you don’t have people acting out and vandalizing property or committing crime just to do it there. Theres a reason you can leave something out in the open and have it still be there when you get back. They even have warehouses full of found stuff they keep so you could theoretically reclaim lost items years later. You can also leave your stuff laying around here in Finland and be quite confident no one will steal your stuff, twice when I lost my wallet as a teen, a bystander had returned it to a police station where I was able to collect it. Very normal here, less normal to have your stuff stolen. Whatever. I don’t think they are all so honorable. I got VD from a gf who slept with a Japanese guy beforeI was around. That fuck denied it because admitting was proof of his unfaithfulness. After that incident I lost all respect for Japanese honor.
This is why I opted into the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this 401k option instead of the pension option for my public ed job. People never suggest we retract the personal savings account balances of people who commit a crime, but they suggest pensions be revoked all the time. Its insane. I can’t tell if this is a real comment or if you are being satirical of ridiculous internet comments about japan. If you know anything about Japanese work culture then it’s pretty easy to see through this. This guy did something real fucking bad and they’re letting him save face. In Japan you stick with a job for your entire career, it takes a lot to get fired. They will move you around, give you a do nothing job, even let you sit around and just overlook you while you get a reputation in the company. To get fired you pretty much have to do something egregious.
I’d bet that there was something going on in the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this background and this turned out to be a convenient excuse. A little example of the big deal that’s also going on. Definitely. There’s likely a shameful truth that would embarrass mombusho and the profession of principals, who are expected to be of unquestionable character (maybe changing a student’s grades for money or allowing cheating in some way, such as getting ahold of a college entrance exam and giving it to a student to study). This is a truth that the Ministry of Education did not want to hit the news, so, instead, they make it about breaking the smallest example of the honor code, which the students will understand and will serve as an example of being punished severely for the smallest infraction of honor.
It also gives some cover to the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this students, who could be associated with the principal and school and might find it difficult to get into a top university, which determines their entire lives, basically. complete conjencture based on a total amount of 0grams of evidence aside from japanese anecdotal stories from western framings of japan Man imagine having a “nothing job” and being able to work on open source software while your job pays you just for being there They often times will put you in a empty room without a phone as a full time job. In japan its never ‘do nothing’ and more ‘try to demoralize them till they quit’. Staring out the window for ten hours a day is your sentence, and that’s exactly what you do. You can’t work on your own thing. You’re completely ostracized as well. It’s literally prison. This is what I think, as well. No way it was just the coffee, especially since that “offense” can be explained away by saying it was an honest mistake and offering to pay it back multiple times over. Surprised they didn’t dust off the death penalty for this menace to society. His theft of $3.00 worth of coffee is why the economy is in shambles. They wanted him to kill himself with honor, not disgrace the school system further by being executed. They’re actually quite upset he wouldn’t.
Yeah he shouldn’t have done that… but do a contrite apology (which he did) and maybe have him speak to the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this kids at the school about lessons to be learned from his mistake, and then move on. Jesus Christ, talk about an overreaction. I mean it’s great that they’re calling him out but the punishment seems quite excessive for the crime. And even a “call out” is brutal. They could’ve told him “hey you paid for a small coffee but got a big one, you owe 26¢” and chances are, the guy would’ve paid for it. It’s most likely that they hated the guy to death and wanted to use any petty excuse they could get their hands on The call out is great? Bro, we shouldn’t be reading about someone stealing a $3 cup of coffee. He could’ve stole $100 dollars worth of coffee and it doesn’t deserve a global call out much less the loss of his profession. Absolutely insane, this country is sometimes. Like, yeah the guy “stole” some coffee, but he also paid for some of it. Fine him. Punish him in house some way. But to fire the guy for a minor offense he did elsewhere and take away his pension and license is absolutely crazy. Nearly on par with the American prison system in its levels of punishment. This is more on par with corporate America, or Trump firing a career employee two days before retirement because he couldn’t take any criticism. They both exist in the extremes. US prison most people come out worse than they went into it. A minor offense can be years or massive fines, both highly dependent on the mood of the judge and quality of your lawyer.
Critics have questioned the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this board’s decision on his punishment, which was announced on Jan 30, calling it a “death sentence” for an offence which caused little monetary loss. They’ve basically killed him over a cup of coffee; less than a cup in fact, just the difference between the regular and the large. He’s 59, likely worked his whole life in teaching, now cannot teach, and has had his retirement pay taken from him. He’s not being fired for the coffee, he’s being fired for something so fucking bad they don’t even want to admit it happened and found literally anything else Classic Japan, I love how he immediately came clean about his past transgressions as well. You can hardly get someone to admit doing a crime when they’re caught on camera in the west.
Not completely the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this same, but there was a thing called 3 Strikes in America, where the 3rd crime would be punished incredibly harshly. It could happen to you. It did happen to Jerry DeWayne Williams, who was convicted for stealing a single slice of pepperoni pizza from a group of children. He received a third strike sentence because he had two prior felony strike convictions. Jerry Williams was sentenced to life in prison after pinching the pizza… I guess you could say “well, it wasn’t just the pizza” or “just don’t steal the pizza.” And, no, the principle didn’t have previous felony convictions. But dayummm… life in prison. Wow, vast differences in culture. In the US, we are likely to nominate a man convicted of sexual assault, facing 91 felony indictments, and who allowed the Capital to be assailed for 187 minutes to the same job he held before. Meanwhile, in Japan, you steal a few cents in coffee, and your career and life are practically over.
If you know anything about Japanese work culture then it’s pretty easy to see through this. This guy did something real fucking bad and they’re letting him save face. In Japan you stick with a job for your entire career, it takes a lot to get fired. They will move you around, give you a do nothing job, even let you sit around and just overlook you while you get a reputation in the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this company. To get fired you pretty much have to do something egregious. I’d bet that there was something going on in the background and this turned out to be a convenient excuse. A little example of the big deal that’s also going on. Mass shootings happen from producing millions of hand guns and assault rifles then nutcases waving around the second amendment then some not securing their firearms which in turn end up in bad actors hands who use them causing more guns to be bought to be stolen , viscous cycle. AND OR people who have psychological issues skirting the background checks required to buy automatic weapons and handguns.
Mass shootings happen when people have nothing to live for and blame society and the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this establishment for their hardships. It has nothing to do with how many guns there are. If there were no guns they would find another way to do the same thing. A lot of people are saying he’s being fired for something else must be ignorant of japans legal system in general. There justice system has always been excessive, just like their terrible work culture Nice comments guys, treating them as some weirdo people is no better than fetishizing them. Every country has their pros and cons. Culture and context are important to recognize here – school principals and public officials are held to a higher standard than rest of the folks. And ‘face’ is an important part of your persona.
If they’re going to do all that over three bucks, I’d just start doing some real big boy crime. Might as well do something that actually justifies that level of punishment. 17 hr. agoBut but but where’s all the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this Reddit posts about Japan being the perfect society with proper manners and children crossing the street and bowing after the car stopped for them and fans cleaning up the stadium after every football match? Teachers and faculty get fired all the time for being LGBT in the US. This has the same energy; pointless firings. Japan takes theft extremely seriously. I am pretty sure you can leave your phone anywhere and it will still be there or at the counter a week later. That dude has mental issues. He’s a klepto, I doubt these are his only thefts. Losing his pension is too harsh though If a teacher from his school did this, they’ll be fired. If the minimum wage worker that caught him did this, they’ll be fired. Heck, if a student at his school did this, they’ll be expelled. To not do otherwise will be favouritism. I can empathise with him losing his retirement pay and hope he at least gets severance though. Story time: i used to work at a convenience store and this step dad whose kids bullied me in school got his coffee in a reusable and insisted on grabbing a spare cup and paying the refill price. He even complained to the manager who allowed it. To this day i still don’t understand how it’s not just theft. A Karen before the meme was invented.
Dude paid for a medium sized coffee instead of a big sized one and appereantly that was enough for him to lose his pension, job and retirement worth $200,000? What a stupid fucking punishment for such a harmless crime. According to the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this article a municipal employee got fired for paying 1 dollar less aswell. Yeah japan, cool, honor whatever but what the fuck is this? Edit because I actually read beyond the title: It was not someone’s coffee. It was petty theft, and possibly even unintentional. You can absolutely mess with a convenience store’s coffee. I mean, maybe don’t steal, but that’s nowhere near as bad as taking coffee away from a human. Well, too bad for him he was a school principal and not, say, a major political leader or a very influent individual.
He should come over to my country. People get caught stealing hundreds of thousands and there are no consequences because they’re influential and it gets zero reaction from the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Women’s Golf 2025 Southland Conference Champions shirt and I will buy this public. Meanwhile in Canada, my local police have given me a heads up 3 times this year alone, because some rapist with a high probability to reoffend has been released in my city. This seems like the kind of guy you’d run into in one of the Yakuza games and start a sidequest where you help him get his job back by showing the school how much he means to the kids before beating the shit out of the school board. This article fails to mention he did it 7 times knowing it was the wrong thing to do. Here’s a Japanese article.
