It seems like your mind is very active during the Somerset Patriots Baseball Logo Shirt in other words I will buy this whole process. For example you’re saying that you’re imagining things and that you’re observing thoughts. Meditation is the opposite of having an active mind, it’s about no mind. Why do you observe thoughts? Let them alone, don’t give them any attention. Also setting a timer each time might not be a good idea. If you feel like it’s comfortable to sit longer then sit longer. I imagine a stormy sky and I imagine I float above the storm clouds, above the storm, where it’s blue and peaceful; stay like that until timer rings. Transcending is not a slight shift, it’s a rather substantial one, where mental activity has ceased and you have consciousness without any object of consciousness. Imagining that you float would not be an activity that would lead to transcendental consciousness. Be wary of advice that you shouldn’t seek experiences, or warnings not to get too “attached”. Trust your experience I can totally relate to that! After half a year of meditation, I had exactly the same problem. But after I realized that it’s not just about the technique itself, but more about being aware of your body and your thoughts, and letting them go, it kind of clicked for me. Additionally, I started to have longer sessions… 20 minutes, and then 30 minutes. Now, I can easily reach this state more often than not. My “effects” from meditation normally happen to me throughout the day after I’ve done my daily meditation practice. I find myself much more aware, insightful, and more patience, just to name a few of the benefits I’ve noticed.

This sounds like a visualization, not a meditation. It certainly isn’t any of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Logo Shirt in other words I will buy this traditional forms of meditation that I have studied. Maybe you should try something like vipassana or zazen? By understanding the purpose and parts of Right Effort, the direction and aim of your meditative practice will intuitively become clear to you. Check out The Mind Illuminated, it has step by step instructions on how to progress through the stages of meditation. Explains things to a western audience that’s easy to digest and deeper than the McMindfulness movement happening in corporate America. One thing to note: they recommend starting at 15-20, once consistent for 2 weeks, up it by 5 minutes per week, until you’re at 45 mins per day, which is the minimum. Also it suggests incorporating walking meditation (again about 20mins to start, then up to 45min-1hr daily walks along with sitting meditation.)
