You are correct that children can be difficult to afford. But that is not the Snow Heat Miser shirt so you should to go to store and get this fault of the “System” – that is due to people’s own life choices. Our society does not owe you a living, nor does it dictate how many children you may have. A lot of things were just not comparable. Housing in particular is drastically more expensive today than it was for previous generations. My mother had an apartment working at the age of 19, fresh out of high school, spending only 20% of her income at an entry level full time job. Today, that same apartment, nearly 50 years later, is $2100 per month. I doubt some high school kid can pay 20% of their income and to afford a $2100 apartment. In previous generations, housing policy was focused around affordability and development only only really in the last 25 years has been the focus been on rising home prices as a sign of prosperity. Public policy today does things which cause home prices, and thus rents, to skyrocket. Housing has far surpassed inflation. No amount of personal budgeting can solve the issue that $200k homes in 2013 are now $600k, and this is generally the entry level home. Healthcare, while definitely better today for things like cancer survival rates, surviving a heart attack, or a stroke, is drastically more expensive today. Education is also drastically more expensive, here in the state of California, tuition at public colleges, after adjusting for inflation is more than 10x the price that someone who was born in the 1940s.

Snow Heat Miser shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

This older generation had public policies which prioritized cheap housing, cheap higher education, cheap healthcare, and as a result, they thrived. Then in the Snow Heat Miser shirt so you should to go to store and get this 90s and definitely 2000s all these things turned around. We now focus on expensive housing, expensive education, and expensive healthcare and then just hope people count their pennies. If you want to know what the main difference between Europe and US is: The highest salary of a DAX (biggest companies in Germany) company CEO is ~20 Mio$. The factor between board members and employees is ~50 (should be ~20 in my opinion). You could easily have the social system like in Europe (your gross domestic product per capita is higher than most of our countries) if you’d fight for it. You should think about distribution of wealth and you’ll find out that the defense budget is only a small piece in this puzzle. I don’t know how I feel about 3 or more kids. You have a good point to make about the difficulty of even getting by now, but considering the strain on resources, I think any more than 2 is a bit irresponsible. But I don’t have kids, and it’s just my impression. Haven’t given it a whole ton of thought.
