Little fire engine stops at a train, where Mickeys house is and the driver tells us to wait there so we wait and chat with the engineer. Then all the characters start coming out of Mickeys house, ALL of them. They are high fixing our daughter, signing her new book and the ones that can talk are talking to us. So cool for the little one, and us. Then Mickey grabs daughter’s hand and walks to the train with her, we all get on the steam train and off we go. We stop for a bit and one of the characters gives us a handful of confetti, we still have no clue. The train starts again, we turn the corner, a band starts playing and the announcer says “here is the Mothers_rent family to open the park” we throw the confetti, hundreds of people cheer and they open the park. Then Mickey takes her hand again and we go around the corner and they take pictures with the family and Mickey. All high fives and off they go. I turn to my daughter and say “that’s the best dad can do” To this day my wife does not complain about me having to be places early. Except dinner parties, but that is a different story.

I heard them below, so I went to the edge to look down. I said something and they started screaming GET BACK! Yeah, I’m at the edge, but I won’t slip. They kept yelling and looked legit scared. I went around and down and saw why they were scared. The area I was standing on was another “cave” if you will and thus the edge I was standing on was not 30 feet of ice, but maybe 1 foot thick. Had it broke, I would have fallen 30 feet. A couple years back I hiked the milford track and the greenstone caples track in one fell swoop one summer. During the 10 days of hiking as well as the other 10 days of travelling, relaxing and eating in Queenstown and Milford, we got 15 minutes of rain. Uncanny that we lucked out so hard. Thought you do miss some of the waterfalls, a dry hike was pretty nice too
