If you press too lightly you fall into drowsiness and wandering of the Skateboard Rich P shirt it is in the first place but mind, and if you press too hard meditation becomes unpleasant and can also exacerbate negative problems. Another thing is when you find your golden mean. When you can maintain a very light, subtle pressure to focus, for example, on the breath, the meditation goes pleasantly and you calm down, then you can become more and more still and gradually reduce the effort. In my opinion, Thanissaro Bhikkhu has a good approach in this topic in his book “With every breath” Also /u/Thelastofsuz Maybe a word I heard that is more fitting than “focus” is “panorama concentration”. I once heard I think Kabat Zinn say it and found it very fitting.

Skateboard Rich P shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

I once heard this phrase that the Skateboard Rich P shirt it is in the first place but amount of “pressure” you put on your mind to do a thing is like the tip of a feather touching glass. The intention is very light but it should always be there. It’s steadiness rather than focus or effort. I like that phrase, the tip of a feather touching glass. The “think about whatever you want” part is only in the starting phase, to quiet your mind. Once that is achieved, the present will find you, not the other way around. That is how I think about it at least! This is as stated in the post, a personal opinion, not a fact. A tip for beginners! Once you know how to relax, you’ll discover what meditation is for you, a very personal thing. Many people say that this or that is the only way to meditate, and that is a bit wrong. Mindfulness meditation is about awareness. I am breathing. I am thinking about my dogs. I am thinking about lunch. One can notice those thoughts appearing but if the watcher is present.. those thoughts come and go rather quickly. If the watcher is not present – one continues on a throught-train ( this is normal ).
