Except for Sezane, the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this brands you list have storefronts in your average American mall. Shop in store whenever possible so you can touch, try on, and visually inspect what you’re buying before you take it home. I have 15 year old clothes that don’t look appreciably different from when I purchased them. These are mall or fast fashion brands. Most items I wear at least 1-2x per week per season. A lot I wear year round. Except yoga pants where my legs rub. And jog bras. But those last a long ass time too if you hang them up to dry. Edit to add: I destroy t shirts due to food and cleaner stains. I rarely pay more than $5-10 per t shirt as a result. I buy 10 dollar Cotton On tees and all they do is get faded and a bit more shapeless. The cut (against the fabric) and stitching are poor and the longevity isn’t great, but once they’re worn out I wear them to sleep. They’re real cotton and it’s soft af The first point really grinds my gears about this sub!!! Honestly most of my clothes are from H&M/Zara and tbh they all definitely last well beyond a season, some pieces I’ve been wearing for years and I get bored of them before they start showing signs of wear such that I wouldn’t wear them anymore. Like you, I wash on cold ONLY and always air dry and have never ever had issues with my clothing. Genuine question from someone with limited space — where are y’all air drying your clothes? I have a large drying rack and even that can only hold a few items at a time. I’ve tried air drying, but there’s just not enough room and things take a long time to dry in the cold of winter
Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt: best style for you
My drying rack can’t fit much either. So now I use the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this dryer on air dry. Only thing is cause the air isn’t heated, you have to double drying time. But anything I used to air dry on the rack I throw in the dryer on that setting and it comes out soft and not stiff too My mom hangs stuff on the shower curtain rod. Not the most convenient but good if you don’t have a lot of space. Also, those things you can put over doors for hangers (like one of these) can work too. I’ve learned from our local power company that throwing in a dry towel or two while drying clothes in the dryer actually helps with faster drying! I think it has something to do with distributing moisture. I do that when I remember and it’s not bad I line dry and use racks inside and outside. (When I lived in a house with heating vents in the floor, I would set a rack over them to dry the clothes faster.) In my old place I set up a tension rod in a nook and dried clothing on hangers. Sheets and comforters I threw over doors if I couldn’t line dry.
True true. Most dresses I bought for FF have lasted me few years with normal wear and tear. I still wear some of them after altering the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this sizes and tightening up some seams (some seams are badly put – you gotta admit). Except jeans though – H&M jeans are the worst – they actually rip from the middle after one year (this happened too many times), so now I bought one expensive jeans for 120 euros (tommy hilfiger) and that lasted me 5 years now. I don’t even take care of them and I have a few pieces of H&M clothing from when I worked there at 16, I am 31 now. All the pieces that held up are basics or the ones with the cream tag (I forget what the section is called). Also kind of related because I’ve seen people mention how the clothing is made. When I started working at H&M they made me watch a bunch of videos about how they totally don’t use sweatshops, there were interviews with the factory workers talking about how awesome their jobs are. ? a lovely work of fiction Also I frequently thrift Madewell, Anthro, and J. Crew, and even gently used secondhand items have lasted me several years. They’re midtier, not really fast fashion.

About Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt
To really see the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this quality difference, buy a basic black cotton crewneck from both Old Navy and Gap. The Old Navy one is going to be coarse, won’t soften with the wash, and may have uneven stitching. The Gap tee will be noticeably softer and will hold up with wear. I have a few Banana Republic black tees I bought nearly a decade ago and I wear them nearly weekly and they’re only now just getting threadbare enough to replace them. But I also separate my laundry, wash my soft clothes (no denim, towels, or zippers) on cold water and hang dry my clothes. And I never ever use fabric softener – not only because I think it degrades clothes faster, but also, it increases the flammability of your fabrics.
I have old navy and gap tees and they hold up exactly the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this same for me. Some of my old navy shirts are men’s, some are the “luxe” fabric, and some are 100% cotton (more coarse). They’ve been purchased over time over the last ~10 years. Only my oldest tees have any signs of wear (pilling). I wash everything on cold, normal cycle. And dry on low or extra low. Unscented detergent, no fabric softener or anything else. I truly don’t get what I’m doing differently compared to people who have serious quality problems with old navy stuff. Fast fashion isn’t about the quality of clothing or cost, it’s about if it’s a fast cycle of fashion made (most often) by slave labour or poor working conditions. Often companies keep intentional differences in the quality of sewing to distinguish between their more expensive and more affordable brands (ex. The gap, old navy). If there’s a typical storefront it’s probably still fast fashion. To not be fast fashion the brand would need a slower fashion cycle and be made under ethical conditions (ex. handmade in Canada, Province of Canada might be a good example; brands like Reformation are more like fast fashion because of their fashion cycle though their working conditions are in theory better). Yes don’t wash clothes you want to keep looking nice with denim or jackets or anything with big metal zippers/buttons/snaps, and put those “keep nice” items in small mesh delicates bags when washing. Mesh bags really make a difference over time! Wash cold and either hang or lay flat to air dry. For wool and silk, always use a detergent specially formulated for those kinds of fabrics, and a tiny bit will do. Those fabrics are proteins, so they need specific detergents if you want them to stay soft/looking as they should.
Also, separate the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this wash by colour. Not just whites and not whites, but all the reds and pinks together, all the greens together, etc. so you don’t end up with everything being a greyed out version of its former glory. How many washes would it take for an item to start losing its original color? I often buy clothing in pairs if I like it enough, and after washing one weekly (cold delicate cycle, hang dry) for 2-3 years, I don’t really find that the washed piece of clothing looks different in color compared to its unworn, unwashed twin. I wash all my colors together and only separate whites. Maybe the quality of the clothing might play a role? I have a specific pair of black jeans from Gloria Vanderbilt that I have to re-dye every year since it fades so quickly. Color catching sheets are magic! Totally recommend. They are cheap and really effective. I just put one or two of them every time, and in the half of the cases they come out from washing stained.
It’s washing machine quality, I am positive. I’ve had cheap apartment washers that left my clothes – Old Navy and Boden alike – looking like they’d been through a war and I could never figure out why; you’d have thought the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this drum was lined with sandpaper. Now I have a decent washer/dryer and wash and dry my clothes with basically wild abandon – I don’t air dry ANYTHING – and never have issues with things falling apart. I have always washed ALL my clothes in cold water (I read somewhere as a kid it’s better for the environment or something) and never really had a problem with shrinkage, etc. And most of my clothes are cheap AF…come from Walmart, etc. They usually hold up pretty well, except for pants in the crotchal area due to chub rub.
Yes! Washing your clothes in cold water (with a mostly full or full load) reduces the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this amount of microfibers that get released into wastewater. You also use less energy with cold water and your clothes last longer, so it’s an easy triple-whammy for the environment. Agree! Even my cheap af shein tops last for at least 2 years. I only have a few sezane pieces I bought second hand, everything else can be safely categorized as fast fashion and they’re completely fine. But I can see why clothes would “fall apart” after meeting my boyfriend. He washes everything, after one wear, even if he was wearing it inside for couple of hours. I really appreciate the cleanliness, but I feel bad for the clothes. My boyfriend’s shirts have started getting holes by the collar… We’ve been together about 3 years and those clothes are what I’ve bought him during the relationship.
I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly my husband does to shred his clothing so quickly and can’t tell. We have the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this same activity level and I do most of the laundry so why are we constantly having to replace his things? Meanwhile I have a hard time getting rid of old clothes because they’re still in great shape. It makes no sense! This happens to my bf too. I buy him the same stuff I wear and we wash our clothes together. My only guess is being a larger human puts more wear on it somehow? Not washing after every wear really made a huge difference for me. I even buy a lot of drop sleeve stuff now because it stays smelling fresh for longer lol Yes, to all of this. I don’t buy a ton new, but I have had (& kept!) items I knew could fall apart, because I was proactive. One was a pair of pants with loose fastenings: I knew I could fix it but I’ve had to fix them all since I’ve owned them-if the sewing looks suspec, it is. The other was a recent dress with a poorly attached strap which is on it’s way to the tailor before it even sees my washing machine.
I think if you’re looking for what to avoid, fabrics can often be a decent indicator. I have consistently seen excessive pilling with some multi blends, cheap, plastic-y fleece, & acrylic. Rayon, if it has any stretch, seems to inevitably stretch out, even if you religiously dry flat. If a fabric has comparatively weird washing direction to what it usually has, & it’s best to err on the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this side of caution, especially if it doesn’t seem like it belongs in the dyer. For cashmere specifically, the price difference has to do with fiber length & thickness, which do affect the durability & softness. To add to this, there 100% are also people who are obsessive about how stuff is washed and overly baby everything they have when they really don’t have to. I think in general just following the tag instructions is the way to go, and if you can, air dry when possible!
Also yeah.. OP I’m sure you’ve seen other comments by now but those brands you listed aren’t cheap?? Lol like that is ridiculous to say that here. That being said, it is a good list of brands whos items are way overpriced for what you get. Caring for your clothes is like caring for your body every day. Workouts everyday to retain shape/caring for purchased clothing perfectly to retain shape. I bought my niece a nice cardigan made with real wool and I believe alpaca, so it needs to be hand washed. She’s a bit older now and more careful with her clothes so I thought it was OK to give her higher quality clothes. Yeah, so many people now seem to have the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this completely unrealistic expectation that their clothes will look new forever. (I think that’s partly to justify buying something new, tbh.) There’s a big difference between “this shirt got a hole after a few wears” and “this sweater is starting to pill after a year.”
Yeah I was super excited because I thrifted a Madewell cashmere sweater for $5 two weeks ago, and I would never have otherwise gotten that since Madewell ordinarily sells stuff like that for well over $100 (at least according to their current website.) That was a Big Find for me, not a wardrobe staple. I know there’s a lot of fast fashion that likes to masquerade as more expensive fashion by charging more for a similarly poor product. But I wouldn’t put these brands in the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this same tier as Shein type stuff. Their quality really has gone downhill, though. The price point may not be cheap but their items sure seem to be. I waited two months for a $160 skirt I pre-ordered that appeared to be heavyweight, lined cotton in photos (fabric listed as 100% cotton minus elastic in waistband) and when it arrived it was a thin, single layer of fabric that was friggin’ seethrough in room lighting. That was October. December I ordered a pair of $140 corduroy pants hoping it was a one-off and the material was so thin it felt like trying on leggings. I couldn’t believe it. I unfortunately missed the return window on the skirt but the pants went straight back. I can get thicker material pants from Old Navy. This sub has never understood that most brand names are simply retailers, sourcing from countless manufacturers, who are sourcing their fabrics from more countless sources, who are sourcing their dyes and fibers from even more countless sources. Sometimes it’s good shit that has to be undersold just to move, sometimes it’s cheap shit that is being oversold to generate profit. There’s some variation in between, but you really can’t say across the board that a retailer is all good quality all the time, there are too many variables.
This is so true. Maybe 15 years ago I bought a handful of black tank tops from H&M’s basics line Divided and wore them constantly. They held up fine aside from a little expected fading. A couple years later I decided to get more of the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this same black Divided tanks. I could tell they were constructed differently, both the fabric and the way they’d been sewn, but they seemed okay and I didn’t think about it. The second time I wore one of them my thumb went right through it. Not at a seam or anything, just right through the fabric. I’d never experienced the whole “clothes falling apart” thing before, but now I believe it happens, at least sometimes. Different fabrics, different factories, stores slapping a label on whatever’s cheapest for them. It really does happen. Something for me too is if I know it’s a more expensive garment I’m much more likely to baby it. I have a few silk blouses from Sezane. They’re the only shirts I get dry cleaned, I only wear them with short sleeves undershirts so my deodorant never makes contact, and they never go in my hamper. They look brand new. Probably all of my clothes would hold up like this if I tested them all this special.
They’re the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this only shirts I get dry cleaned, I only wear them with short sleeves undershirts so my deodorant never makes contact This is really important. People used to have a layer between themselves and their garments. That layer was easily washed. You simply wouldn’t need to worry about washing stuff like wool or silk (both relatively fragile, esp when wet, compared to linen) all the time and of course it would last longer. I’ve got two pairs of $7 F21 jeans that I bought specifically for my hands-on retail job (stocking, building, inventory, customer service, climbing), around 2008. I’ve a F21 miniskirt from the 2010s ish (probably older because I thrifted it) and it still holds up and it’s still so cute. I also have a F21 sweater from 2021 and it’s shredding but it’s still so cute. Absolutely can make it last
Ask anyone who works in fashion – the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this average American consumer washes their clothes too often at too high a temperature and uses tumble dry over hanging (common in much of the rest of the world). This is why the clothes don’t last. I moved to Europe from the US where it’s rare to have a dryer and I noticed the longevity of my clothes improved. I hang dry all my clothes. I do use the dryer for sheets and towels. I don’t know why everyone uses their dryer, but it’s not good for elastic, which is all the stretch and in a lot of clothes.i also think fabric softener is not great for clothes because most of my athletic wear says not to use them. I use my dryer because my climate is 75-80% humidity and cool temperatures year round. Things can take over a week to dry on a clothesline…. even if I I get lucky and it doesn’t rain on them. I also live in a humid climate. We bought a dehumidifier which we run next to the hanging clothes. Dries quickly without damaging the clothes.
Yeah, there are definitely ways around it. But my apartment came with free laundry machines in the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this common area. Buying a bigger dehumidifier, hanging up clothes inside a tiny apartment, paying for the extra electricity to run the dehumidifier so much… it’s possible, but not worth the hassle and expense to me. Tumble dry on low heat isn’t going to wear out most clothes that much faster than line drying. My clothes last a long time, and the patterns of damage show me they’re wearing out from the way I use them, not the way I wash them. I don’t want to see clothes hanging to dry all over my house and my weather isn’t great. In the summer I’m not going outside in 110 degrees to do laundry. I own a dryer. I dries my clothes. I use it. I want the convenience of my clothes being dry in 40 minutes so I can hang them and move on. I don’t want laundry to take any longer than it has to.
I work full time including a good bit of overtime. Laundry is a thing I have to do. I want it to be as quick and easy as possible. (I will note that my clothing choices reflect that. I don’t buy hand wash or gentle care clothing. I only wear black and grey.) I only hang-dry the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this “better” clothes, not undies and (most) t-shirts and pajamas and sheets and towels. Shirts go on hangers, jeans go on hanger clips at the ankle. I’m just going to put them in the closet like that when they’re dry anyway. When I lived in Europe (Sweden) it was easier because most laundry rooms had setups for hang drying. One place I lived even had a separate room in the laundry room with fans just for hanging things. That’s extremely useful in the winter since hanging outside would often just freeze stuff.
Here where I live now in Chicago I don’t even have a laundry room. I sometimes hang stuff on the Shaboozey wild west inspired graphic shirt Besides,I will do this porch in good weather (rare) but otherwise it’s only my most delicate items since the space I have for air drying is so so limited. I have just started hang drying all my clothes and it’s a lifesaver. The exception is one particular style of pants which fit immaculately when put through the dryer but are too big otherwise. Fabric softener is fine for most clothing, but you should skip it for anything you want to be absorbent like athletic wear or towels. Every student in the UK gets sent off to university with a drying rack- it’s just an inherent part of how laundry gets done in Europe. And if you have a garden, there is a clothes line for drying in good weather. When I moved to the USA (just before you could get anything on Amazon) I struggled to find one in the stores. But I couldn’t recommend one more; you’ll double the lifespan of your clothes.
