That’s the only facepalm here. But I’m betting you could do worse by electing outright NAZIS to office (“exile all Jews!”, “make such and such people illegal!”). As a real conservative (aka leave everyone the F alone and stop worrying about what people do with their lives) …… yikes. One party is, at best, like a mildly annoying skin abrasion that itches sometimes and means you have to wear a long jacket in the summertime to keep the mosquitos off the thin patina of calamine lotion you have to wear to treat it. I agree that admin should have substantial school experience, I will add a small edit to this though and emphasize school experience. They don’t need to have been a classroom teacher. Social workers, counselors, teachers, and so forth all have qualities and strong understandings of how schools function. The key is that all come from different angles so being aware of your blindspots is essential. For example, a former Gen Ed teacher from a school with minimal sped and a lot of 504s may struggle at a high sped school, especially if it is a lot setting 3. Someone else from a school with a lot of wealth will likely struggle at a school with 15% of studenrs being Mckinney Vento eligible. Tech came for the publics’ schools and parents rolled over and gave them up. My district got a new superintendent. In the final round they had one local person who had experience working with unions. The other candidate was from Tennessee and no experience with unions. The district choose the local person citing the union experience. To me this had me concerned because it means that the district knew they wanted a union person, but somehow the Tennessee woman was still in the final two? Feels like a set up to justify picking the person they wanted the whole time. So hopefully it isn’t just another insider doing what the district wants. My wife and I were watching. This is my 18th year as an educator. She saw his age and job and turned to me and asked how it was even possible.

My Ed Leadership degree required three years of classroom experience before graduation… I started a year after my bachelors and took three years vs. two to finish.
