You had to force that kid to take in as many nutrients as possible at that sitting because it was often unpredictable when you would be able to present them with another full plate, and not maximizing that intake whenever you could had the potential to lead to malnutrition. The kids often didn’t understand that at a young age, they just learned that “Even if I’m full, I have to clean my plate. Those are the rules.” So they then grow up, and even if they get to a point where they’re financially stable, when they have kids, they pass on that requirement. Same with food. If I payd and I’m full then it doesn’t matter if half the plate is left. I got what I paid for, a full meal You don’t know the frustration of a parent who makes a dish that for months until 5 minutes before suppertime was the kids favorite. Now the kid informed them that he hates it, always hates it and is now full. The child then is excused and wants ice cream because they are hungry.
