BMTC is simply not up for the Premium garrett Wilson &’til The Wheels Fall Off T-Shirt and I love this task. No matter how you look at it no Government till now through a span of 3 different parties coming to power has shown any interest at expanding BMTC fleet. They are absolutely adamant that BMTC has to be profit generating. Somehow they do not realise that public transport is the lifeline of any city. Government has to be prepared to bear the losses of running BMTC. We need to aggressively hire more drivers, introduce more buses, revaluate the routes as city has transformed a lot in past few years, etc. Next up, Auto Rickshaws. Over past few years there has been a lot of frustration against Auto Rickshaws. I get a headache anytime I have to use one. Pre-paid stands, better regulations for rickshaw metres etc. is required. Perhaps they should allow for share autos to ply on short distances between neighbouring bus stops and metro stations.In Delhi, they have e-rickshaws for last mile connectivity. You usually pay Rs 10-20 and it is shared by max 4 passengers. Very convenient (though not very safe).

Something like that might work in bangalore but the Premium garrett Wilson &’til The Wheels Fall Off T-Shirt and I love this slow-moving e-ricks will put more stress on the road traffic. I was hoping that as more and more metro stations open up in bangalore, private transport operators will start mini-buses or tempo-travellers on fixed routes around the station. But that has not happened. Although I agree with the intention, I’ve seen e-rickshaws causing issues wherever they operate. They don’t obey the rules, are overcrowded with people spilling out, drive recklessly on both sides of the road and are downright dangerous. In my opinion they do more harm than good. The traffic itself moves slow in the city where the e-rickshaw would need to travel. It’s the state of road infra which can cause real trouble for the passengers.
