If I was the parent I’d probably ask the teacher to let the kid redo the question using other words and I’d probably escalate above if denied. The question didn’t say you couldn’t use those words. so seeing that makes me wonder how authentic the post is. could be coincidence, but it immediately caught my attention. Or maybe this assignment/test has been handed out by teachers with a different philosophy when it comes to grading So by one teacher who actually cares about creativity and good thinking and by another teacher whos an asshole? Or the same teacher grading one student whose parents are popular with the PTA and complain bitterly when stuff like this happens, and another whose parents are too busy working three jobs each to look over their child’s homework that carefully and who all the other parents tell their children to avoid because they are a “bad influence”. So the one who cares about creativity is the one who gave them a 3/10, right? Or is creativity simply repeating what’s on the paper? How many kids would have thought to use the words in the question? You’d have a class of kids thinking of words and this kid would have already finished the question. Creativity does include that, but if you provide a sample essay and the student turns in that essay, is that creative?
