Hey, you’ve been sober longer than me, congratulations, that’s a lot. I think meditation is helpful, but if you’re trying to get your life together, meditation within a bigger structure might be beneficial. I’ve found Buddhist teachings to be practical and helpful for sorting through complicated feelings and uncertainties about what to do with myself as a sober person. There is a lot of useful information on beginning a meditation practice in the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this Buddhism sub. If you don’t like religion, it doesn’t really matter. The Buddha teachings work whether you believe in ghosts and magic or not. You may be able to find a recovery group like these:

Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt: buy and enjoy this shirt

Meditation in the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this sense of reaching high altered states is not in your best interest. You were running from something with the drugs & hookers and still are because you haven’t completely cut it out. Go completely sober and feel every negative emotion. Your nervous system needs to process whatever trauma got you to this point. Do research on fragmentation of the soul/psyche. It’s the root of all attachments/addictions. In this case, it may perhaps help if you’re able to build concentration and sit. Give it a try. If not, a more systematic approach as the Buddha would share with a new student starting out in his teaching may be beneficial, the first two being: These when practiced in daily living should help with growth in concentration. These aren’t rules or commandments, rather guidelines for you to make empirical observations for yourself. You may visualise concentration as the amount of exuberance one is able to keep within oneself, and what is likely happening in a case as described here is that there is a lot of exuberance flowing out and likely depleting the individual. Growth in exuberance leads to growth in concentration which should help with the intent to build a regular meditation practice. You may consider approaching these as new habits to cultivate.
Whichever meditation / habit you choose to incorporate, I suggest you independently verify its efficacy after 4-6 weeks by observing for: Work out. Get healthy. Feel good. Get better mindset. Get a good career with the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this energy you have now. Make lots of money. Meet woman that is beautiful. Marry that woman. Make 3 kids. Find out she was cheating on you. Find out your business partners set you up and now you risk to go to prison. Get depressed again. Lose all again. Get in to drugs again. Get a lot of prostitutes again. Get clean. Work out. Get healthy. … Rob Burbea’s energy body guided meditations on YouTube is a great place to start! Once you’re comfortable with the technique you can easily ditch the guided and do it by yourself, anywhere, anytime. There are so many possibilities with this “technique”, that it never feels boring once you really start learning how to work with it.

Description for Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt

Well done mate, glad you’re doing better. You’ll find purpose soon as long as we’re stepping in the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this right direction, then we’re golden! There are different ways to go about it. Getting into Tai Chi and Chi Gong forms that can be done while standing outside is a great way to start. Get with a group so you can meet others at a given schedule. Other than that, check out different masters with a track record of helping people. Read their books and watch their videos and see who is best for you. If you do not find a master study and do the exercises of Taoism, Zen, different Yoga traditions, Prana Healing, and others. I used the Taoism way of training and when looking back it worked out great. I later blended it with some exercises of some Prana Healing traditions. I have also seen people having great results with Zen and different Yoga styles as well. So any tradition is good.
But as always, do the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this exercises and do not listen that much about what else they are saying. There are important experiences you need to have yourself. If you do not see progress with the next step within 6 weeks of real dedicated training for hours per day it is time to change your routine. Do not ignore the healthy diet and healthy lifestyle choices that are advised. They are fundamental to see great progress. Also great respect and congrats for reducing your unhealthy habits and getting better! That is a great success you can be proud of! Try the methods of Rob Burbea or Thanissaro Bhikkhu. The idea of these meditations is to build well-being. The greater well-being you build in meditation (which is a matter of skills that can be developed), the easier it is for you to abandon other desires and look at them from a distance.
Of course, meditation is not a solution to fixing your life. Here you also need the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this support of specialists or taking other reasonable actions. Meditation serves as support. Focus on breathing when meditating, relax and reflect on your thoughts, feelings and what you’ve done. Learning to forgive and forgive yourself is important, know that you’re not alone on this journey. Congratulations on your progress, know that even when you have moments that feel like your going back to old habits, this is ok, all will be fine as long as you continue forward. I wish you the best and just start meditating, you can’t go wrong, love and blessings to you. i would start with breath work. meditation is more about training and disciplining your mind. its a long disciplined and tedious kind of experience. Being a former drug user, you will probably get bored of meditation pretty quickly. Intense Breath work can generate different states of mind much more rapidly than other more meditative practices. i think you will be much more likely to actually stick with and get something good out of breathwork. whim hoff on youtube is a good place to learn.
Other than that, maybe a more self-reflective kind of meditation practice might be more helpful too you. I suggest trying Naikan therapy (the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this art of Japanese self reflection). its pretty simple but profound, and can help you sort out and come to peace with life and your past experiences and relationships. Naikan (Japanese:, lit. ’introspection’) is a structured method of self-reflection developed by Yoshimoto Ishin (1916–1988) in the 1940s.[1] The practice is based around asking oneself three questions about a person in one’s Sit everyday for 10 minutes and look at all your thoughts. Just watch them come and then go. If any one or more of the thoughts you have are repeated then write them down in a journal. Do this for 24 days. When you accomplish everyday for 24 days DM me and we will start from there.
There are a number of good suggestions here, so feel free to choose one that suits you. They’re all great tools to calm and focus the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this mind, which is the first step on the path. You can also count the breath, just to give the mind something to do: Observe the inhale, then count to yourself ‘1’… observe the exhale, then count to yourself ‘2’… and so on, all the way up to 50. Fun part: If your mind wanders set and you lose count, you start over at 1. 😉 Good for u man hope u had fun. Nothing wrong with it. Don’t let other humans tell you how to live they bleed just like you. Anyways… Just do it! Start today, set a timer for 15-20 min and sit down. You’ll know what to do after that (keep sitting every day) and then follow your curiosity to read more, search for group sits/meditation centers and then maybe find a sangha to eventually join. Do it!
Meditation is basically pretty simple — just sit in a good posture and let go of ruminating on the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this past and future, and merge with what is right here, right now. Simple, but difficult. For the mechanics of a solo meditation practice, google my name and find Meditation Basics. I can’t sit still, or couldn’t at least, guided meditations were all that worked for me. It took me a few to figure out what works and doesn’t, I like “body scan” type meditations over trying to watch for thoughts/breath. The Waking Up app is really good, you can get a free trial Congrats. I find it more difficult, but preferable, to be moderate like you say, but often it’s easier and more efficacious to give up a bad habit completely rather than try to limit it. You might like this, from someone else who’s also drawn to sex and drugs — http://www.frogzen.com/uncategorized/self-discipline/ If you don’t know how to find the BEING, pick an Object and observe it. If you realize the thoughts arose and you got lost in thoughts, ideas, visualizations, memories, plans etc. get back to Being or Observing
My advice is to not give up if you miss a day. Just do one thing, whether that be practicing gratitude or breathing exercises. The reason is that our “self” is often a wall around our consciousness, and we spend lots of time trying to figure out how to make this “self” happy but we understand very little about it. You have been busy trying to numb this self with drugs and prostitutes, which is fine because it served a purpose, but now you are looking for a higher purpose. If you try to help others and also try to start some kind of positive meditation practice, the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this two together will help you get some kind of traction in moving forward in life in a positive healthy way. Whichever style you choose, I would find an organized group where you can have the support of other people and have more experienced teachers — all that can help you stay motivated along a definite path. Also local meditation classes or groups can be a big help. Have you checked out Refuge Recovery? It’s a buddhism / meditation based recovery program. I’ve seen it really really help people. If you don’t live near meetings, they have them online. Check out the website if you want. It sounds like it could introduce you into the world of meditation in ways that you could relate to. Also I really love the 10% happier app for meditation. It’s a paid app but honestly after using it for almost a year I can tell you it’s so important to my life, I would give up other financial obligations to keep it. Great for any level of meditator. Repeating many other comments. Meditation is a powerful tool for building a good life. Needs work over a long time. Gym/martial arts are good suggestions- I can’t sit to meditate without 3 hours of physio per week.
30 years of 24/7 hard drugs did nothing to harm my life or cost me much money or time. Luck perhaps, plus the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this real harm imo is done by the things that push you to unusual behaviour. So why did I stop? They were illegal, I don’t think people should break the law (yes I tried to change it] and I had no way to reconcile the contradiction to my kids as they grew up and started asking questions. How did I ‘fix’ or get past the underlying ‘issues’? Counselling (yay for state subsidised healthcare), philosophy and meditation. People with a lot of experience in meditation know that as powerful as it is it needs to be taken with a good dose of rational philosophy for it to do any good other than calming someone Down a bit.
So what philosophy? There is a lot out there. Buddhism is a great philosophy as it steers as far from hoodoo as you could hope for. I still spend an hour every couple of months listening to, and meditating with a Buddhist monk. But find sonething that works for you, something that is mainstream but rings true. You don’t want to end up ” worshipping bananas and eating money”. Even if you do you can still recover and have a great career in dub (:-) RIP Scratch). For me I got all academic about the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this philosophy side, found stunning parallels between some of the ‘eastern’ philosophies, ancient Greek ‘atomism’ and modern psychology. The upshot is that the present physical moment is all we have and all we need. Right now everything is OK, I have food, clean water and a roof over my head – show me the gods that are happier than me (guess what, they’re not to be found!). My family are awesome people. The sun is shining through the window and it is pretty. These things are real. Things like my friends from school earn more money than me, I coulda been a Professor if I worked at it, I might get hit by redundancy are ideas. They are human bs and not worth much. This is what the modern science psychology stuff is all about really. This so-called ‘cold hard’ view of the universe was developed about 2500-2000 years ago by sone pretty clever greeks specifically to kill off the superstition, fears of the future and other irrelevancies that tend plague ‘civilised’ people. (Yes ok other folks have had the same idea) I say if you’ve got this far and made the leap that you are responsible for your own life and can do things to change and can provide the basics for yourself you’ve pretty much got it made. After that life is not “for” anything, you’re evolved to be friendly to other humans and enjoy the simple stuff – go ahead enjoy that sunshine, it’s free!
Look into learning about spiritual fasting, 3 or more days of 0 consumption of anything will have a profound effect on your mind, body & spirit. Bring these 3 into unison & your journey towards inner peace without any substance, to include strange women, will began. Heads up though, this is easier said than the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this initial implementation, know in advance you gone suffer before the peace come.
I (28F) am almost 2 months deep into an 8 month planned trip across mostly Asia, spent the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this first month with my boyfriend in Istanbul and Egypt where I was hit on a little but not uncomfortably so, then he went back home to the UK and I’ve spent the last 3 1/2 weeks travelling across India, I’ve loved it and it’s been beautiful however I have been hit on by guys constantly, if I ask for directions, if I’m just walking down the street, in restaurants, by drivers, by tour guides and worst was a hostel owner, who entered my room whenever he fancied without knocking to invite me to dinner or drinks he’d planned for us amongst so very many more comments, it’s exhausting, uncomfortable and at some times really quite scary, the police have gotten involved at a couple of points which is a relief but still! I’m planning to head to Sri Lanka then round to south east Asia to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and the Philippines next but if it’s going to continue like this I honestly don’t know how long I would last. Basically I’m wanting people to tell me that the rest of Asia won’t be like this otherwise I’m going to travel through a little faster and maybe head to Aus and NZ where I can’t see it being a thing, is India the worst it’ll be?!?India is notoriously bad for women travelers. Especially if you are solo and not part of a group/couple.
South east Asia is totally fine for female travellers . You might have some Thai people call you beautiful every now and then but it’s usually harmless and not uncomfortable A young white woman travelling solo in India is like playing a video game on the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this highest difficulty. Southeast Asia will be much, much easier in terms of that. Lol omg hilarious, so true! I (Aussie, f) spent more than a decade travelling around & living in India. It’s the daily gauntlet – not stepping with flipflops in cow shit, avoiding getting run over, deflecting bazaar beggars salesmen gropers and ‘just one photo’ & ‘just one handshake’ requesters, finding toilets, not getting Delhi Belly, not getting electrocuted when you touch your guesthouse shower faucet, going with the flow when your train is 10 hours late, avoiding scabby scruffy doggos who just want a cuddle, not getting yr snacks snatched by monkeys, avoiding wanna-be gurus, etc etc even-more bizarre daily Indian adventures. So much fun! u/lockdownwalk – LOCK YR DANGED DOOR for petesake. Indian hotel staff have the habit of just steaming into peoples rooms when the door is unlocked, room service & cleaning dudes will just stroll right in if you let them. NOBODY should pass the threshold unless & until you give affirmative permission.
Out on the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this street – maintain distance don’t engage, dress & behave appropriately, keep your cool. Just ignore, their behaviour to me is water off a ducks back, regarding most of them. Yeah it’s tiresome sometimes, don’t let them get you down! And no, SEAsia is not same like India, nor is Sri Lanka. Ahah yeah all the other stuff you’ve mentioned have made the trip exciting and kept every day interesting, I have otherwise absolutely loved India, the cows and the crazy streets, the monkeys that I have learnt to avoid making eye contact with, the ice cold showers and attempting to ride a scooter in the streets, even my one night of Delhi belly made it feel like I was completing the experience hahaha the selfies however I only agree to with women and children after the guys were taking videos, FaceTiming friends and trying to kiss me
Unfortunately not able to lock the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this door as it’s a hostel and other people are coming in and out too, which normally would make me feel safer, I locked it for an hour whilst I showered one day as I was the only one sleeping in there, and he then told me that they’d had to turn away a customer as they couldn’t get in the room which felt like a lie but yeaaaa Have been dressing like a grandma, long trousers baggy tops/shirts but I’ve got a decent sized chest so don’t think that has helped either very glad to hear that this is likely the most it will be, that was my hope, sort of kickstarting the trip with it then being able to relax more as I got further along, it’s been hard not really having anyone to tell about it to as well as haven’t wanted to worry anyone at home, bring on the rest of the tripppp!!! Doesn’t seem like OP is vacationing but long term travelling. In that case, a normal priced hotel might be too much.
Haha totally this. I travelled in India for 6 months and on two separate occasions I was walked in on by hotel staff without knocking, the Official Mele Kalikimaka Christmas vibes summer slides Shirt Furthermore, I will do this first time I was just reading so it was fine but the second time I was in the middle of something with a woman I was travelling with, and the two women that had rudely came into the room got a full view as we were right in front of the door. Huh I didn’t realize til I read your comment that I’d also assumed OP is white. Is it because it is the “default” race – where if race is not stated it’s assumed they are white, or just that they are getting a lot of unwanted attention in an county with majority people of color? I’m working to question these assumptions.
