All of that sounds terrible, but isn’t it better to know that these people aren’t your friends? I find that it’s really good to know who I need to withhold my trust and friendship from. I trusted her completely. She was the Muppets santa peace on earth gimme presents shirt but in fact I love this last person on this earth I expected to betray me. I thought she was the woman I‘m going to marry. I Became so depressed, I seriously thought about ending it at one point. The only thing that kept me going was my family and friends. Before that I was actually mostly happy with my life. Since then I became an anxious mess of a man. I‘ve been in therapy since then and trying to claw my way back, but that shit left some bad scars on me. In the worst case, i think they would just self delete because they cant therapy that Final Ultimate Betrayal away, ever. I believe therapy would absolutely help for that worst-case scenario. If it can make life easier after my ex-husband cheated on me and beat the shit out of me – leaving me with c-PTSD, I think it can serve its purpose yet again should my current fiancé deem it necessary to be unfaithful. I would divorce him and then ultimately be single until either I worked through that betrayal or until my time came to its natural end. I struggle with this because in the end, I am the only person I can count on and trust. I’m trying to overcome this and open up. I am 52 & have been divorced for 5 years. My marriage was an absolute nightmare. I have a 16yo son at home. I have declined every invite to go out on a date in the years since my divorce. I no longer have faith in my ability to judge a person’s character. I will never expose my children to a narcissist again. They were exposed to their father much too long because of my inability to see reality. I don’t need a man to be happy. Honestly, being single, taking care of my children & only relying on myself is the most content I’ve ever been in my adult life. I don’t have to worry about what we’re walking into everyday when we get home. Our home is peaceful & secure. I did that. I will not disturb our contentment by dating a man who may or may not be a decent human being.
