It’s really fun and cute to take a free doll home to play with for a week. I’m going into month 11 with my daughter and only recently have I been able to go to bed fairly confident I won’t be awoken in the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this middle of the night. Comprehensive sexual education from an early age has been scientifically proven to lower teen pregnancy and abortion rates. It’s because these programs are most often implemented by schools who practice “abstinence only” contraception. Popular in the Bible Belt for obvious reasons. I was the only guy in my entire graduation class to take family planning at my Christian high school. It was awful (and I actually wanted to be a family guy at that point haha). After the project I still wanted that, life just didn’t turn out that way. Honestly, I didn’t mind the late night wake ups, attention, whatever. I do similarly now for my cats (rescue Stella still gets scared during storms and needs consoling or me to cleanup when she pees on the bathroom rug haha). I did get a kick out of how like every girl at that school suddenly wanted to spend time with me and my baby that week lmfao. Cute AF blonde on the cheerleading squad at the football game while I’m sitting there on the practice field watching with my kid? She’s coming over and chatting me up while asking to hold it. Girl I’ve had a crush on for a while is literally texting me about how awesome it was I did the project and wanting to do study nights together so I can tutor her while she helps me take care of the kid and she goes mom mode and is like holding the kid while laying on me.
Merry peanut Christmas shirt: Perfect for Fans
Ironically, I got a D on the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this project. That week just so happened to land on a week where I was in the school play sat/Sunday night and my mom (fake kid’s grandma) said she’d care for it while I was on stage. I remember when I was in school we had a girl who kept talking about how much she wanted to have a baby, well when that section came and the permission slips went home her parents reached out to the teacher and told them to make her suffer. The dolls have different settings that can be adjusted for how calm/fussy the doll will be. They put hers on hell mode. We had some that simulated babies with issues with things like fetal alcohol syndrome, colic, drug withdrawal, etc. All options were turned on and set to max. The first day she was so excited to get her baby to take home by the 3rd day she was starting to look awful and stressed, by Friday she was exhausted and was seriously reconsidering how much she wanted a baby. It also didn’t help that all of her other teachers were giving her zero slack about dealing with said demon doll. It was a miserable week for everyone around her for having to listen to that doll screaming all the time but it was worth it since IIRC she hadn’t had a kid by the time I left.
They’re called Baby Think It Over dolls. My youngest son’s girlfriend was assigned a baby. She failed the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this assignment a few times; she put the doll in the car overnight because she couldn’t make it stop crying. She left the doll here one time and it scared the crap out of me when I saw it. She had stashed it in a closet lol. She’s now a mother of 5 and is doing great. She definitely grew up since then Back when I was a server, one of the 16 year old busboys brought his baby doll homework to work once. I held it once, made one joke about deepfrying it, and wasn’t allowed to so much as look at it for the rest of the night. One of my coworkers was taking orders while holding the darn thing. I lost track of how many times I explained the situation. It’s almost like humans were designed to procreate, and simulating infant care might just trigger some hormones making the desire for pregnancy greater? Maybe?

Step by step to buy Merry peanut Christmas shirt
My high school aged son brought one of those Baby Shriek and Screams home for the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this weekend on a class assignment. The accursed thing went off every fifteen minutes all night long no matter what we did until I finally went in, confiscated it from him, and threw it in freezer in the laundry room to shut it up. I’m absolutely convinced they invented those things to remind menopausal women longing for “grandbabies” what they’re in for if little Kayleigh comes home from 10th grade preggers. I never had to do this. I saw kids have to do this in other classes, but none of the classes I had made me do it. The thing is, even adults don’t comprehend that a baby turns into toddler, and then turns into an adult, and is a LIFELONG commitment.
Well, this is because teens need real, actual sex education. They don’t need a prop. Just give them the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this facts, and tell them the truth. They’re not completely stupid. We had the bag of flour instead, it became havoc for that week, there was protests, some groups started slashing flour bags with keys, and finnally after 2 days they canceled the whole thing because 40% of the bags were assassinated, or ritualisticly sacrificed in protest. Mine was a bag of flour we had to watch. After the assignment we made cinnamon rolls and sold them for profit… so fucked up! Sorry if it’s already been asked, but is that 36% measured longitudinally (i.e. the presence of dolls caused an increase in teenage pregnancy rates) or against other schools (I.e schools which chose to have dolls have higher teenage pregnancy rates)? I suspect it’s the latter being dressed up to sound like the former to make it sound shocking, but the latter would not be surprising at all. Surely schools with a perceived teenage pregnancy “problem” would be far more likely to use the dolls?
The problem isn’t wanting a baby and giving a young woman a simulated baby in an effort to remove that want is ridiculous. Society mocks women and calls them “gold diggers” if they seek out older, financially stable, men that have wealth but in reality women are simply reducing the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this aforementioned burden. On a side note it’s rather comical that humans try such extreme remedies for the problems we create. In one school they will keep it a secret where babies come from and not teach them about sex and in the next school they will straight up give them a baby lol. So; People give young girls toy dolls to teach them to love babies and play at being mothers. Then, in high school, they give them a fancy baby doll that vastly oversimplifies the care process and expect it to have the opposite effect. Just teach sex ed. Show birthing videos. Maybe be honest about health risks. Methinks they don’t actually want fewer pregnancies.
My high school in ’98-’02 had these things. They even had one that was programmed to behave like a “crack baby.” Imagine being the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this student to be assigned this one. “Here. We see what your future holds. This one is for you.” I remember those things in highschool prior to 2001, I paid my sister to look after mine because I hated them so much. got a perfect grade. She used to volunteer to take care of them for other people. she got pregnant at 19. I hated those things with a burning passion and am childless and shall remain so. “Baby Think It Over.” My sister smashed one of these and my parents had to pay to replace it (also made her help pay). My high school did this during health class and it was graded. The program/company was called Baby Think It Over and the dolls had sensors that gauged damage they sustained, how long it took for their needs to be met, etc. Students would partner up, name their baby something crazy, and take turns taking care of it overnight. I’m pretty sure each person only had to do a night or 2 each, but unlucky people had HORROR STORIES of these babies. They were heavy like a real baby and would cry spontaneously, always needing something different- sometimes to be burped and you needed to pat its back just right, sometimes a bottle, or diaper change. It wouldn’t stop crying until its specific need was met. If you ignored the cries they got louder, and if you completely ignored it a report would tell the teacher when she would plug the baby into a little handheld. Your final grade for the Baby Think It Over unit would reflect how badly your baby got treated. If you accidentally dropped its head back, or shook the baby it was an absolutely HORRIBLE scream cry. Sometimes it happened to people during school and it was louudddd. Some people’s babies never cried during the night, but some babies kept people up all night with the crying. My older sister got a bad baby and this thing would not stop crying, we’re talking like every 30 minutes. She had a calc test the next day so at one point she just lost it and was crying and threw it from the top of the stairs. I remember seeing her head down the stairs after it at like 2am knowing she was about to go break the fake baby until it couldn’t keep her awake anymore, extremely entertaining for 14 year old me. Students knew beforehand if they broke the fake baby they would have to pay to replace it, and the alternative to doing the baby thing was a research paper which no one ever wanted to do. My mom found the baby in the kitchen in the morning doing these faint, fucked up robotic noises. My sister had to bring the broken baby into school the next day and it was like $250 to replace. 2 years later I had to do the same thing but I got a good baby, it barely cried.
I had one of these at school. My parents were horrified by how much it cried (more than any of their three children ever had as babies) so dad just put it between some camping gear in the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this garage and we ignored it for the final week and a half. Failed but nobody important cared. It’s probably more to do with the girls who take the class in first place. Probably considered a low effort class. I remember in high school s girl telling me she was tired of school and wanted her boyfriend to get her pregnant. I was dumbstruck. I just remember thinking damn, some people really don’t give a fuck about their futures. Causation without correlation. These dolls are probably brought into schools that typically have issues with teen pregnancy. The measure is not against other non doll schools. It would against previous years before they brought the dolls in.
If you looked up the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this study you would have seen that this is not an issue in this particular study as schools were randomly assigned to intervention and control groups It still seems pretty dubious to me, 36% is a huge increase. With teen pregnancy being relatively rare, a few outlying pregnancies can skew the results. Luckily, we have this whole field of statistics to help account for those variations, which the authors of the study employed. You understand that a statistical error or something they did not control for could throw off the data? The study was not double blind. It has not been replicated by secondary research. It’s common for mistakes to happen in these types of research. I just think the claim that these doll programs increase teen pregnancy rates by 36% to be dubious.
I understand that. I also understand that one can read literally say that about any study ever. This study used proper prospective design and accounted for the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this most common demographic confounders in their analysis. The study was single blinded, and I’m not sure how you would double blind it. It’s kind of hard for a participant to just not know whether they were given the doll or not. It’s healthy to be skeptical, but so far your objections are “I don’t believe you”, which aren’t exactly scientific objections. Also, to clarify the “36%”, it doesn’t mean 36% of girls got pregnant. In this study, the control group had a birth rate of 4% versus a birth rate of 8% in the doll group. Abortion rates were 6% vs 9%. The 36% comes from feeding these into a statistical model that also accounts for demographic variables.
The sample size of this study is one of its strengths and the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this 13% pregnancy rate of the total sample indicates that pregnancy is not a super rare event First of all, the current teen pregnancy rate is not relevant since data on pregnancies were all collected before 2011 when teen pregnancies were more numerous. Second, the study participants were 13-15 when the programme was run and were followed until they were 20 so the percentage of pregnancies observed in the paper should not be compared to single year figures I would be interested in seeing if the uptick in pregnancies followed the purchase of the dolls or if the dolls being purchased followed an uptick in pregnancies. Also I remember my school specifically targeting the more at risk students for the program so it could be confirmation bias that the baby dolls cause the pregnancies or if its really that the students were already on that path and the baby dolls were just a consequence of that lifestyle.
The study being referenced was a proper, prospective, randomized, blinded, interventional scientific study. It isn’t just a retrospective, observational, correlative analysis like everyone here is assuming. Ignoring the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this possible flaws in this study, What they should do is make them parent a teen. Hearing “ I hate you mom! You’re so stupid. Give me money.” 20 times a day May make you think twice I’m childless. My wife and I (while still dating) took a neighbors 6 year old to a renaissance fair (like 37 years ago). That was it for us. We were like nope nope nope. Babies cry and poop, but they don’t talk back or say they are bored and throw tantrums. I would rather spend 24 hours straight with a hormonal teenager who hates the very sound of my breathing than spend one hour with a colicky infant.
Did that once for a friend doing a call for work and it was horrible, the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this baby cried every time I put him in his bouncy seat, and then he kept wiping his tears and mucus on my shoulder or on his hands before grabbing a fistful of my hair or shirt. It’s like holding a 15lb fire alarm with body fluids leaking everywhere and you can’t just gingerly balance it in one arm or hold it facing away, you have to cuddle and soothe it. Most of the people in this thread “calling them out” did not read the actual study and are accusing them of doing literally the exact opposite of what they actually did. I wanna see the historical data, cuz I would bet that the schools choosing to invest in those dolls already had higher rates of pregnancy which pushed the investment
You should read the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this actual study, because it was, in fact, the exact opposite of what you said. They took 57 schools and randomly/blinded chose 28 to use the dolls. In other words, it was a properly conducted prospective scientific study with randomization and blinding. I always wondered about this because I see it it movies and TV shows, but none of my friends or co-workers did this in their school except the older folks. I kinda just wrote it off as a trope that no longer applies. Same with home ec, hardly hear about it anymore. Did this method ever have data to back it up that it worked? This sounds like a faith based method that had no research into it other than “the bible said so”? The most egregious thing I’ve ever see was my high school requiring a girl who had a baby in the 8th grade to take one of these home in the 11th grade. The most idiotic school decision possible
Causation isn’t correlation. The schools where girls get pregnant more often might be more likely to use the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this dolls. Are these kids also getting adequate education on how to avoid pregnancy? Are contraceptives available to them? Because like, we know that works… I feel like it’s old news that being “scared straight” isn’t effective. I refused to take one home in 8th grade. The health Ed teacher was astonished at me and asked why. I said “I’m pro choice and I wouldn’t have this problem from the start.” She got super passed and said “You think you’re funny? You can take your baby murderer sass to the office.” And I got in school suspension because even though the principal was a Democrat, the teacher refused to have me back for those 2 days. I had to do a writing assignment instead on the “high cost of teen pregnancy ” which the principal gave me an A on. Got to go to the library and use the computers to research and everything. That was a big deal at the time in 2001, we didn’t have computers in every class room. For all their bluster against teen pregnancy conservative states love to implement policies that increase teen pregnancy. Almost like they actually want more teen moms
If you do one click, you will see this trial had nothing to do with America, American states, or American politics. That’s because as much as reddit may not like to admit child rearing isn’t actually that bad nor that hard, we’ve been doing it for millenia in even worse conditions. So one a person has had has a slight simulation they’re like oh it’s not that bad. Good we need more babies. Declining birth rates are a serious issue. We also need better wages so men can allow women to raise the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this children without the stress of needing a second income destroying their mental health Correlation vs causation .you wouldn’t institute that expensive program unless your school already had a problem False assumption on your part that this was a correlative (ie, retrospective/observational) study. It was not. Please read the actual study abstract. Correlation not causation. Schools with a higher risk of teen pregnancy may invest more in teen pregnancy-prevention efforts. In this school-based pragmatic cluster randomised controlled trial, eligible schools in Perth, Western Australia, were enrolled and randomised 1:1 to the intervention and control groups. Randomisation using a table of random numbers without blocking, stratification, or matching was done by a researcher who was masked to the identity of the schools. Between 2003 and 2006, the VIP programme was administered to girls aged 13–15 years in the intervention schools, while girls of the same age in the control schools received the standard health education curriculum. 57 (86%) of 66 eligible schools were enrolled into the trial and randomly assigned 1:1 to the intervention (28 schools) or the control group (29 schools). Then, between Feb 1, 2003, and May 31, 2006, 1267 girls in the intervention schools received the VIP programme while 1567 girls in the control schools received the standard health education curriculum. Compared with girls in the control group, a higher proportion of girls in the intervention group recorded at least one birth (97 [8%] of 1267 in the intervention group vs 67 [4%] of 1567 in the control group) or at least one abortion as the first pregnancy event (113 [9%] vs 101 [6%]). After adjustment for potential confounders, the intervention group had a higher overall pregnancy risk than the control group (relative risk 1·36 [95% CI 1·10–1·67], p=0·003). Similar results were obtained with the use of proportional hazard models (hazard ratio 1·35 [95% CI 1·10–1·67], p=0·016).
What was the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this rate before they used the dolls? I suspect schools that introduced the dolls did so because they already had a teen pregnancy problem. That isn’t how the study was setup. They selected 57 schools, randomly assigned 28 of them to use the dolls and 29 of them not to, then compared rates. It was much more rigorous than just retrospective/correlative. I wonder to what degree the reduced rate is due to the resource cost of the project being a product of the area being more well off. Everyone knows low income areas have higher rates of teenage and unexpected pregnancies. Low income school systems aren’t spending money on infant simulator dolls. In this school-based pragmatic cluster randomised controlled trial, eligible schools in Perth, Western Australia, were enrolled and randomised 1:1 to the intervention and control groups. Randomisation using a table of random numbers without blocking, stratification, or matching was done by a researcher who was masked to the identity of the schools. ready set disprove. They gave these to poor students. The dolls didn’t do anything. The poor students became pregnant like they would anyway. For four hours, it has been repeatedly pointed out again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again in this thread that if you do two clicks you can see the Merry peanut Christmas shirt moreover I love this report which states the test was a random trial. Babies are easy, the only reason we praise women for looking after a baby is because they worked so hard to get the thing out. Should give them a “toddler mode” if they want to really scare them. Or a “teenager mode”. Hell just give them a year 8 and make them force the kid to do their homework for a week. I think most kids are intelligent enough to realize the doll is designed to be as problematic as possible and is not a realistic simulator. But they still get to pretend to be a mother and that kicks in their primal instincts. So they end up wanting kids. Which frankly is a good thing. Why are humans like this? Honestly asking, which part of having a creature that does everything you hate your pets doing and that you cannot get rid off is a fun idea? I get it if once you are done with your having fun phase that you want responsabilities and a long term project but why would one plunge themselves and another futur human in poverty for this kind of torture. Honestly asking That was one of the reasons I quit school. I hate babies/children so I like asked if I could be omitted from it knowing I’d never have children I’m gay anyway they told me no it was 50% of the grade and I quit soon after. The dolls were deployed to schools that ALREADY had high teenage pregnancy rates. So saying that “girls from schools where these dolls were deployed had higher young pregnancy rates” is dumb, as that was the entire point.
