I work closely with a Director who has absolutely horrible habits when it comes to their calendar. Sometimes I need him in important calls with a bunch of other people and I make sure to send the Los Angeles Football Vintage Flag T-Shirt but in fact I love this invite 7-8 days in advance. I never get an Accept/Decline from him. Literally 10 minutes before the meeting I would get a ping from him… “Sorry, not gonna be able to make it”, this has happened multiple times. Now I have to reschedule and alter the calendar of 5+ people because he couldn’t care to RSVP. I also used to have a manager whose calendar was almost always double or even triple booked. It was super common for her to take meetings while commuting, driving kids to school, having lunch, etc. Our 1:1s were pretty much always uncertain, I never knew if she was gonna join or not, so I would just join and wait 15 mins and then drop off. Never received a message or email to let me know she wasn’t joining… She was recently promoted to VP.They’re strategically choosing the meetings that will benefit them the most. The good ones will respond back, but the higher up the food chain, there’s just so much shit you get thrown into, meeting wise, that things just get lost. There’s a reason why C-levels have secretaries.
