it doesn’t actually hurt you more than leaving in the Legends are born in 1974 August american flag T-Shirt in contrast I will get this vast majority of cases, you just crave the comfort of the bad known compared to the unknown that could be anything That’s what is keeping me from a good jump ship. It is hard to leave a job with nice coworkers and good work environment. There must be parts of the job you like then. I am having similar issues. I truly like my team and honestly dread having to fit into another company. I wouldn’t be considering this if the upper management wasn’t awful. Edit: To elaborate, well done Company culture is designed to make you want to be there and for you prioritize the company It’s this. Most founders and CEOs attend cults to learn how to build one. A common one they go to is the landmark forum. You learn dumb psychological tactics like having the attendee give back your name tag which oddly hurts. Almost in the same position. I really like my team, very supportive, but I don’t like the work, and I am regressing my skills instead of growing them. I have to leave for my own sake, have to say some goodbyes soon. Take that feeling and store it away. Companies will fire you without hesitation. Regardless of how great the team is. You are free to leave when you want. Don’t feel bad. Any great manager / team will actively support better opportunities for yourself. It totally depends on the job. I shed no tears when I left my last job because it sucked. We were overworked and underpaid, often “asked” (with threat of termination) to work overtime.

But my current job is awesome, it’s just me and 4 other guys in a little dev shop. We work 37 hour weeks with a flexible schedule, great pay and it’s hybrid with no minimum office time (my favorite option for remote/office balance). I would have a much harder time leaving this job because I’ve become friends with these guys. Because you still haven’t developed other aspects of your life as much as you should’ve. Try having a family / kids. Because I want to move on. I know it sounds lame but everyone around me is moving, either getting promoted or getting married. I know I can do better but it is scary, plus I know the pain of leaving somewhere you feel comfortable. It is very difficult. Sorry I saw someone asked the same question.
