I’ve been sleeping with a fan for most of my life. I moved in with my boyfriend, who lives next to train tracks in the Jon Bones Jones Light Heavy Weight Shirt and I love this country. He doesn’t like the fan. I can’t sleep without it because of the train and how it’s too damn quiet out here. We talked about it like adults. I put it on the lowest setting (I used to blast that baby) and on the floor. I sometimes tilt it up if I want the breeze. This worked for us. I would be concerned with how she talked to you. She doesn’t sound like someone I’d want living with me, let alone sharing a bed. There has to be some compromise with this, but being mean shouldn’t be part of it. Calling you fat was a wild escalation. But so was telling her she can sleep in the other room without trying to find a compromise.

Our solution is to have a fan at the foot of the bed that points only at at my partner. Find a compromise. If it’s the noise, get something quieter. If it’s the air movement, adjust it or get a less powerful fan. There’s no reason this should be a deal breaker. I’d tell her to sleep on the other room and if I’m so fat she can find another guy to live with. She sounds like a bitch to me. People in the comments are just ignoring that she was aware of all of this, tried to change it after the fact, then tried to fat shame you. Like, what a jerk, seriously. This isn’t a hard issue to resolve. She needs to go sleep in the other room, and keep her abusive comments to herself. Talk about privilege! What disgusting behavior from her.
