If lunch is free you can’t get tax benifits on meal coupons so a notional charge for lunch is better, also stops people from wasting food. My company does provide but at a highly subsidised price. Currently on a trip through France with people that MUST USE A NEW OUTFIT EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. That means a very large suitcase for each one of them, and they plan on buying an extra carry on to accommodate everything they want to buy to take home before we leave. My husband and I have to help them in every staircase, because they are extremely heavy and can’t be handled by a single person.
