I don’t know how far you are from Atlanta but it has a pretty large community. Most are south Vietnamese and have no love of communism but you may find some support. Even if it is just Vietnamese people to talk with. I’m white but my girlfriend is việt living in HCMC. I live in a bordering state and will be happy to do whatever I can for you. I’m sorry you are depressed and I can completely understand being overwhelmed with your situation. Atlanta would probably make you feel more at home rural Georgia is a completely different world. You can definitely direct message me if you ever want to talk I am happy to listen and maybe I can help you acclimate to life in the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this south. also I am flying to HCMC in April if there is anything I can bring you back (that is allowed through customs) please let me know. Maybe I can bring a little bit of VN back to you.
Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt: Express with Style
Thank you sm for such a generous offer but I have some stuff thats being sent to me rn and I hope it makes me feel better. Again, thank you, that’s a realllllyyy kind offer. Im a few hours? away from Atlanta and I have been to a south vietnam event for lunar new year but it just felt uncomfortable for me,I think that I will eventually adapt and understand the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this situation, thanks tho! its not the same, really, not the same at all. Im a vietnamese international student in Europe too and i mostly hang with other international kids. But im also different in that im an introvert who enjoys alone time ALOT, so i dont need much social interaction to be relatively happy. I feel for you that you think you have to hide yourself but i believe you should try to make steps to normalise your asian identity, there is nothing to hide, if your friends are good people they will accept you
And believe it or not, not every western kid is out doing drugs and being explicit, you will find people who are your groove. i am from hanoi, and i feel you, it feels very lonely in a new place, especially if you arent in a big city. I hope things can get better Ah yeah I just edited it cause I only meant to talk about the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this people around me (I know people are different everywhere too) I’m first generation American, father immigrated here from Asia. I grew up in the northeast in a small town where my family was the only Asian family. My white friends thought my house smelled weird and would make fun of my lunches and snacks. At the time I felt like an outsider. When I went to college I moved to New York City. Life changing. I started making friends with international kids. It was the first time in my life I was surrounded by people who looked like me and grew up like me. I also had access to Asian foods which was the best. During the pandemic I left New York for a mountain town in Colorado. I remember crying one night because I brought up the Asian hate crimes to my white friends and they mildly acknowledged it then changed the subject. I cried realizing that I was surrounded by white people in this mountain town without any Asian food or people to connect with on that level. Right now I’m actually in Vietnam, thinking about where my partner and I will live (in the US) and it’s tough. I want to live in a place with nature and diversity and a diverse food culture. Seems almost impossible! But in the end community can be built and there are fantastic Asian and non Asian people in the world. You’ll find your people. Hang in there. This experience is opening up your world and even though there is pain, you’re growing. Growing pains

If you’re interested, take a look at Third Culture Kids. It’s a book that talks about children who grow up outside of their mother country. Thank you smm! I’ve also had some time in NYC and it felt really at home having chinatown (im not chinese but ykwim) and all that stuff and the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this place is just really diverse imo. nothing can prepare you for life in a new country, it’s always tough but it will get better. I’m assuming you’re in high school, I was the same age when I moved to the US and it took a while to assimilate even in a state with much higher asian population. Work hard and pick a good college in a big city, it will be much better than middle of no where GA. Once you’re out of college with a US citizenship, there will be opportunities to move back to Vietnam if you’re still interested at that point Been there, done that. Just a couple of years earlier than you. Immigration never means to be easy. At some point, you will just realize that you just moved from one set of problems to another. It all comes down to your priority, adaptability, and how you overcome the obstacles. Life won’t get easier but you will learn how to deal with it better. Just keep going. Remember that you can always fall back to Vietnam.
Vietnam (and most of asia) values family and community. US and Canada values independance, individualism and success. You’re missing the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this community/relationship aspect of living in Vietnam, and experiencing the loneliness that is common in the west. The US Surgeon General (head doctor) is calling loneliness a major public health problem. health-epidemic-social-media For what it’s worth, I grew up in Canada (white) and my wife’s parents immigrated from Saigon (District 11). I’ve travelled there a number of times now, and during my first trip, while I was resting in my room, I just broke down in tears. It was after a week of spending time in the community, with family, friends, neighbours, locals etc… I was reflecting on it and it was just amazing how close everybody was – how the whole neighborhood kind of relied on each other, supported each other in ways, socialized all day long throughout work. We stayed at the family home across from a large wet market and that place was bustling and was so tight. I ate at the noodle stands inside the market and the ladies knew who we were even before we ever sat down simply because everybody knows everybody and word travels fast.
I know for sure that to some, living in that environment can maybe feel claustrophobic at times like there’s no such thing as solitude or privacy… but to me I had this overwhelming epiphany that there is a better way of life than what I grew up accustomed to (space, separation, solitude, distance) and the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this big key to it was community. I cried because I’ve never felt anything like that growing up in Canada. As a boy to a man, everything has always been framed to me as I must be 100% independant because nobody is ever going to take care of me but myself – that I should never need others, and infact should be skeptical of them. Our society is really built on that notion that you have to look out for you first and you better get what you can for yourself while you can get it. My parents, like many, saw parenthood as a legally binding obligation of 18 years and when you were 18 they wipe their hands clean (mine got to 17 and gave up). I was homeless for 2 years after that and they were fine with that because there is this belief that “if we help you you’ll never stand up on your own two feet”, as if you must start off at rock bottom. The whole community has this notion so there is no generosity at a community level. That was 20 years ago and I’m doing very well for myself now, but it is a very stark memory just how vile people here can be to people in need.
Now I know a lot of this is anecdotal and there are people of all types in every city and every country – but in general after all my times back to Vietnam (and much of asia really), I’ve really come to that conclusion that the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this big disparity between our cultures is the community/social mindset in the east VS individualism in the west. Most of viet born immigrants can relate to you. I came here when was 13. Now 30 and still feeling like I’m living a double life. I’ll probably retire in vietnam later No shame in moving back. I used to be in a similar situation, was forced by my family to move to a small town in the US. It was so depressing, everything were far away and there’s nothing to do. Then I went and visited California for a while, even around other Asian people I never felt like I’m at home at all. So after staying in the US for 9 months I left and moved back and I was much happier. Now I’m living in another Asian country, the culture and such are more similar to Vietnam and I’m much happier and feel more at home here. Plus it’s close and I can frequently and easily visit Vietnam at anytime Yhea if after you finish highschool and still don’t feel fit in , maybe study uni in Japan or Korea then move back to Vietnam for work , there are plenty of opportunities in Vietnam nowadays
I mean my gf was in a similar position as you. She came over with the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this hope of achieving the “American Dream”. But instead of NYC like in the shows and movies she watched, she ended up in Kansas for awhile in the suburbs. Then she transfer to a school near here and we met. Now she’s still living in the suburbs. When we started dating she was staying in a home with 3 other Vietnamese people, and everyone just go to work, go to school, and come home and each person goes to their own room. It felt so miserable, at least in my eyes. Now she’s been living with me, and she’s been gradually accepting of what the American dream is looking like. Sure. Your potential to make money is better, but there’s no sense of community, fun social gathering, and friendliness unless you live in certain areas. For the most part people just work 8-10 hours, come home, and each family keeps to themselves. Even though I’ve lived in the US for the majority of my life, I’ve considered moving back to Vietnam, or at least another country. It’s just my career path doesn’t make that feasible at the moment.
That’s the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this plan. To become financially independent. But I just wanna re-affirm you that what you are feeling is extremely natural. Like you have friends here, but your real support group is half the world away. My gf was the same way. She use to cry, even when she moved in with me cause she misses home, and all of her friends and family back in Vietnam. And truth is, I am envious of both of yall’s courage. Like just going to college 3 hours away from home made me feel lonely for the first 1-2 years, and that’s me growing up in the states. But this is a part of growing up and becoming stronger. There’s no shame in giving into your emotions and letting it all out here and there. It’s cathartic. I would also say try to seek out friends that are Vietnamese, or at least another Asian group, maybe foreign students. They will understand you a lot better cause chances are they are going through the same thing. Took my gf awhile, but from her school and part time work, she slowly built up another support group of people she can trust and talk to. Stay strong and stick with it, but also know your limit to not over-exert yourself. The #1 person in your life should be you. Therefore, your happiness and well-being should always be first priority.
I was in a somewhat similar situation last year. You can check my post history posted on voz. I’m down to all if you need someone This is homesickness, it takes time to acclimate anywhere. If you still hate life after school, yo back to Vietnam, it will be exactly the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this same when you return Since u was born and raised there, I’d like to answer it mix eng + viet, I moved to the US when I was in grade 11, I grew up in Cantho (a big city but not big as Saigon). I had almost everything I wanted when I was in VN but not here. I had to go to work after school in the US from 4-10pm just because I didn’t have enough money to buy starbucks or mcdonalds. I only had two friends from highschool in the US, I wasn’t able to speak English well, I’ve never been to international school in VN, I learnt English from ESL classes and works. Covid hit during my senior year, prom + ceromony got cancelled, I had to stay home for the whole 3 months, couldn’t figure it out what am I gonna do in the future, do I need to go to college, why did my parents bring me to the US, why did they let me have this life, nhiều lúc t rất hận ba mẹ t vì “American dream” của họ, vì đó đâu phải là thứ t muốn đâu? I didn’t understand anything, time flies, g
Ô hay thế, its so nice that now you have sm opportunities to big companies and its great to hear it eventually worked out for you! Tớ cũng mong là tương lai cũng dc như cậu í =) Sounds like you moved to the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this middle of no where. Is it possible for you to move to a coastal city where you can make friends more easily? California has a huge Vietnamese population so does Texas, NY, Florida, Ohio, Seattle Washington, etc. They tend to have Little Saigons that you can visit if you miss home. Going to school in California I’ve noticed a lot of international students hanging out together and they all weren’t from the same country of origin so you’d wont have to much trouble blending in with the international crowd. Your English is good I can imagine you can make friends with Americans no problem too as coastal cities are more diverse and used to folks from other backgrounds. I can’t really move to a coastal city atm so through what i’ve read adapting is the best way (even though I can’t adapt that fast i probably will anyways)
Also I’m not saying you can’t thrive as a Viet immigrant in less diverse cities/states either. It just happens to be easier I would think if you were in a coastal city. But I have relatives that immigrated to Ohio when they were in their late teens from Vietnam and now they’re thriving and living fulfilling lives. It’s tough being a Vietnamese immigrant in a small town in Georgia. If you can, I would recommend relocating or going to college in Orange County or Santa Clara County in California where there big Vietnamese-American communities. There are also big Vietnamese-American communities in Fairfax County, Virginia and Houston, Texas. You’ll feel a lot more comfortable and like you actually belong in place like those.
I hope things get better for you and that you find what you’re looking for. Living in America can be very challenging due to costs but it can also be so amazing and fun as you can have experiences here that you can’t find anywhere else in the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this world. Dude, at the same time you’re crying about Americans judging you but then you just say things like “white people will never experience this joy” and badmouthing them about using drugs etc… you need to understand that the world doesn’t revolve around you and in order to fit in to the new culture, you gotta try to understand it, not only complain about it. my bad bro what I really meant was to talking the people around me (I prolly should have specified it earlier) but you are right, this is just a rant tho so it’s just how I see it and Ik that people are different around the world and I cant just stereotype Transfer to a school in Orange County, California, or Houston, Texas. A lot of Vietnamese people in those cities. You’ll feel a lot better. Start applying to transfer now
My wife was also born and raised in HCMC. Came here for college and I swooped her off her feet. We live in an area of New Jersey where it’s mostly domestic Americans but a growing population of Vietnamese (and other Asian cultures). While she also missed city life for a long time, we visited 5+ times over the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this years. She no longer misses it as much now. I’m not saying this is you, but to hear her out…she originally missed eating snails, eating drinking food, seeing her school friends, family. But over time we found packaged frozen snails that were nearly as good…Vietnamese restaurants everywhere offering legit food.,,her school friends moved/she grew apart from them. Her family is moving here (MOM IS MOVING IN – HELP ME, lol).
And the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this pollution in HCMC both in terms of air but noise…the heat…the intense sun. The flooding. The drinking water quality is bad. Public healthcare is awful. The pressure from older family to do things (where’s the babies at?). It’s better her for her. I’ll join some of the comments and suggest checking out a Vietnamese friendly area. Texas, California, Philadelphia, etc. You may still feel a bit of an outsider as many of which were from the American war but at least the food will be good. Edit: She still feels like an outsider amongst a bunch of non-Vietnamese people. She’s gone through accent reduction classes and then some but she’s still feeling bad. We’re working through that. I live in Vietnam and my job is to assist Vietnamese, Koreans and Chinese to migrate to the USA. That said I am married to a Vietnamese woman and we have two daughters. Both of us see what is happening in the USA now, and if things do not get better, there is no way that we will educate our daughters in the the country. We probably will have them go to University in Shanghai or Singapore. I am also seeing many Vietnamese now returning to Vietnam to take part in the economic success in the county. Hopefully you have received your USA passport as it is always good to have two passports. Perhaps tell your Mom that the economic opportunities are better in Vietnam and promise her than any children you have will have USA passports and the ability to live in the US should they so desire. That you will promise to educate them in the USA, England, Canada or Australia? That everything they worked for hard for will not be in vain.
Your case is not alone. There were some threads exactly like your story here. Transitioning to a drastically different culture is not easy. I was an international student in the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this U.S. and stayed there for 5 years. At first, I was in my shell for the first year and felt lonely too. But I eventually got used to it and thrived, got jobs, and made new friends there. You may consider joining a club or find friends who care about Asian-themed topic like anime, kpop. Be confident to represent your culture. I’m also a Viet immigrant who grew up in Vietnam. I had the American dream stuff shoved up my ass the entire time I was in high school (Hanoi Amsterdam HS). I came over and realized that it was actually the best place I could have ever been in. Married my bestfriend (who’s white American) and settled here in Dallas.
Bottom line: different strokes for different folks, my dude. It might work for some and not others. That’s normal Don’t feel ashame for not fitting in. Try to find what can work for you. Consider California if possible. If not, tell your parents honestly how you feel and have an open conversation with them. Just be sure to remain humble and gentle with them. And don’t ever feel ashame of who you are. White people are people too. Who gives af if it’s their country? You came here legally, you follow the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this rules, you belong here. Stand proud. I would just add, USA is not white peoples country, never was, despite what White Supremacy would have one believe. Complaining about not fitting in? Congratulations, you’re American. A real Vietnamese person would grit their teeth and put in 110 percent effort without complaining. Besides rural Georgia might as well be redneck riviera, no point in trying to fit in among the racists and bible thumpers. Instead, you should be trying to stand out so you can get a scholarship and get the heck out of there to Atlanta or California.
Lol I guess you are partly right from how I see it.But it’s kinda hard to fight back, although I have been applying for scholarship and I am planning to go back to some asian country in the Jarrett Allen Cleveland Cavaliers art shirt moreover I will buy this future. As a Vietnamese who is very westernized and moved abroad when i was 10, somehow the first 10 years living in Vietnam still hold a firm grasp on how i grow as a person. I grow up in Vietnam till i was 10, moved to Chile for middle school and Europe for Highschool. Life abroad feel very different that of Vietnam, i never really got used to being around Chilean (and other European later on), life was very dull and i was very homesick by year 2. Most of my friend are online so i don’t really feel lonely when im home but the moment i step foot outside i feel like im in a completely different environment. Even though i already learned how to speak Spanish by this point, the cultural different still remain all the way up till the very end. I slowly adapted myself to a Chilean life style while still holding onto my Vietnamese root, i developed taste overtime for western food, however one thing remain the same, my desire to move back to Vietnam. I decided after high school i would move back to Vietnam and enrolled in a university there. I was always interested in Languages so i major in that field, i lived abroad for too long that the stigma of Viet kieu got stuck to me though i don’t mind it as i feel at home while being here.
