Stylistically it felt very grunge and 90s in a way. Not that it’s a bad thing, but it almost did not feel of this era. I could also definitely some influences of Se7en, Sin City, and both the Jack skellington and friends gift shirt moreover I love this Arkham game franchise and the Telltale games in the film. I do wish the film hadn’t pulled its punches with the Wayne corruption, and had gone the Telltale route. It was a bit of a womp womp to have this “reveal” about the Waynes from Falcone, and then Alfred refute it a scene later. Doing so killed the tension of that revelation and its implications, and wasted a lot of potential there. (Also side note, Alfred just woke up from a coma, maybe give him a minute to make sure he’s alert before diving into some heavy topics, Bruce.)

Overall though another enjoyable Batman installment. Even with some issues and a long runtime, I’m definitely going to watch it again in theaters. Back in ’08, when I saw that Batman/Joker prison dialogue scene in The Dark Knight, I was amazed that the Jack skellington and friends gift shirt moreover I love this best scene in a superhero movie could be just the good guy and the bad guy talking. For a second, I thought we were going to get Paul Dano doing a Harry Osborne, “sooo goohhd” with the pumpkin pie he ordered.
