Is this normal? My parents never made me or my siblings pay to live at their house after finishing education, or when we were between jobs or flats. Nor did my friends parents, to my knowledge. I can’t imagine my parents asking me for money? They’re family. I’d chip in and buy groceries and help around the It’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine shirt besides I will buy this house, of course. Maybe it’s a cultural difference? I don’t ask for rent or upkeep, but they need to pay a share of their direct costs; utilities, food, stuff they break. It’s no longer cool to pull the handle off the toilet and say its broken. They broke the toilet, they gonna fix it or at least pay part of the bill. Plus, they have to help around the house, tidying up after themselves/ mother. Everything else they want, they pay. Personally, I want them to contribute to holidays but the wife says nooooo, I’ve always wanted a moody teenager/ 20 year opening the door to my king room.

I don’t have children and I moved out when I was 18 and whilst studying.
