I did this at work, and not on my own time, and these were pretty simple hot key related scripts. I still had to determine which script to utilize depending on what screen I was on. I showed it to my manager and some higher ups. I was able to process claims super fast. Granted it wasn’t perfect, because I had deadlines to meet each day, so I couldn’t spend hours making something work. It was pretty rudimentary, but it worked. With directed hours I could have made it much better.

She finds out about them, and now my direct manager asks me to stop using them. I said sure, but didn’t. No way am I doing more work for no reason. Then my dept manager asks me. Sure, but I keep using them. They had no idea if I was or not, so they had to ask me. Then I suggest we automate the group that I work on, because it’s super easy to do. It gets brought up to higher ups, and given to a different department. I ask to work with them, as I spent years looking to get out of my role into different parts of the company. I got no support and turned down multiple times. This was no different. They took my idea, gave it to someone else, and wouldn’t let me help with it. I just wanted to help and learn. Instead I got to help “test” it. Basically verifying it was working. When I asked how much money my idea was saving the company I got told that was out of my role, and I didn’t need to know that. I know that the position went from 3+ full time employees down to 1 part time. Took about 5 years to get there, but that was largely my doing because of my automation. I left pretty shortly after that, because I realized my contributions would not benefit me. Went to a different HCO where my manager encouraged me to use scripts if it made my job easier. I tried to automate stuff W that company officially too, but they weren’t interested, so I milked the role because it shouldn’t have existed anyways. They had other issues, but basically Health insurance companies fucking suck.
